Re: Peter Lorimer

I remember that free kick as well and I know I didn’t go to the game . I think it was at Molineux but may be wrong . I’m pretty sure it was Phil Parkes in goal for them and he pushed the ball over the bar .

What a player Peter Lorimer was .

Re: When you played...What positions did you play?

Primary school . I fancied my chances as a goalkeeper and had a Gary Sprake top which I managed to save enough pocket money to buy after I saw it in Shoot ! magazine . I wasn’t very good . Made a number of howlers which most of my friends blamed on the Sprake top rather than me . Junior School 1st 1...

The Complete Island Box Set . Bob Marley and the Wailers .

And listened to “ Uprising “ today as it’s on my shortlist for the best album of 1980 poll . Not necessarily his greatest ( but it does contain Redemption Song ).

Re: Cheer Up Frank Lampard

Apparently Alf took Charlton off to save him for the semi final which turned out to be a tad premature . I do get misty eyed thinking about the world cups of ‘70 , ‘74 and ‘82 . Fabulous tournaments. A shame that the Dutch in ‘74 and Brazil in ‘82 didn’t win . But they’ll always be remembered for th...

IMO Colin Bell was one of only a handful of world class players England has produced in my lifetime . Sad that he was so badly injured in his prime . Shocked that he has died . RIP

So many to choose from but seeing Queen at the Rainbow theatre in 1979 was special . And loud ! 5. I would have loved to have seen Led Ze...

Re: RIP To those departed

Gerry's records or TOTP's Billie ? He produced some of Gerry’s records . He was a record producer back in the day called Ron Richards . I went to school with his younger son who I have been friends with ever since . Ron was a brilliant man and very modest . There was no clue around his house about ...

The new bulletins are showing a clip from Top Of The Pops, I rarely missed TOTP's during the 60's/70's.
My oldest friend’s Dad was probably the producer on a few of those !

7)  Any special memories of our games v the Hammers at Elland Road Wouldn't say special and not even sure it was Elland Road but vaguely remember Lampard doing a dance around a corner flag after scoring vs us for some reason. He was copying his father who celebrated scoring a last minute winner in ...

Paolo Rossi has died aged just 64 . His goals single handedly won Italy the World Cup in 1982 including that incredible hat trick against the brilliant Brazilian side .

The film was quite good as I remember although I’ve not seen it for years . Richard Burton’s was pretty sinister as O’Brien in his last screen role .
