Re: Greatest of all time

Quite an interesting article yesterday by Jeff Powell where Ronaldo and Messi only just scraped into his top 10 players of all time ( not sure I necessarily agree with that however ! ) . Pele was his GOAT and John Charles at 6 . My GOAT would be Cruyff and I had the absolute good fortune to see him ...

The 1982 team can't be far off being 2nd best as well :duno:
What a team that was , Zico , Socrates , Eder , Falcao . Utterly brilliant to watch.

Re: 1970’s ESSO football badges/coins/Squelchers

Like this one Billie. I’ve also got the red thinner card one somewhere. Trouble was with that one that every time you picked it up some of the coins would fall out of the slots - probably by design so your Dad would buy you the thicker blue card one. 7 Leeds stars of the day feature amongst the 197...

Re: 1970’s ESSO football badges/coins/Squelchers

I’ve still got all that stuff . I’ve even got two complete sets of the Mexico 70 ESSO coins ( one on the blue board that you had to send away for and the other in the freebie red gatefold paper holder ) . Really happy memories of collecting when I was growing up .

Re: 1st single(45) & 1st Album (33) you bought....

I know the first single I bought was Slade’s “ Cum on Feel the Noize “ . I’m not so sure about my first album but I think it may have been Rick Wakeman’s “ Journey to the Centre of the Earth” .

So many great singers already mentioned . I’d add Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday , Judy Garland , and Janis Joplin .

The 2nd leg of the European Cup semi final at the Nou Camp is the one game that really sticks in the memory. Leeds were absolutely brilliant ( and resolute ) that night .

Re: RIP To those departed

Alan Minter was a fine boxer by all accounts . Unfortunately for him he seemed to cut quite easily ( a bit like Henry Cooper ) and the majority of his 9 career defeats were because of that weakness . Although I lived in Crawley for over 20 years I never came across him even though his brother lived ...

I remember a TV movie / series Diana Rigg starred in years ago called Mother Love . She was brilliant in it and pretty scary.
