I think Tanaka's the choice as we need the more creative player in that position if we're playing five along the back.

He just keeps getting better with every game.

12-0 to our creative midfielder.

Is there a case for Gruev, a more defensive footballer away from ER?

With the formation likely to be 3 centrebacks plus Ampadu and Stach I think another DM (Gruev) is overkill. Fair enough against Liverpool where the idea appeared to be to try to keep it tight, which we did to a reasonable effect until the Rodon error, but I do feel we need to offer more threat than we did.
I love leeds united, may I never admit to it. :shhh:

Exactly. Three defensive midfielders is overkill. Against Liverpool we got penned in to a certain extent because we didn't have a progressive midfielder willing to take it forward, so Liverpool pressed further up the pitch. When AO came on that changed for the better and he has a goal in him. He has to start in the 3-5-2 for the system to work with the players we have.

Totally agree.

We always look better offensively.

Be interesting to see what DF does.

He's usually really cautious away from home, sit back, don't press etc.

It wouldn't be a massive shock if he went with Gruev

3-5-2 doesn’t work with Gruev in the team, he’s just the definition of a steady player and you need a bit of dynamism in there. Is Tanaka constantly carrying an injury as Farke seems really cautious with him.
