Have you had one of those team selection things set to you by Leeds web site?mentalcase wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 10:22 am I think we all agree that selection is left to DF,but, this is a debate, hence why we are putting our twopennorth in, there is no way in the world a manager with any salt about him would listen to an online poll.
As for picking players that train the best !
Some players can't train as good as others due to a number of factors, but when out on t' pitch certainly give their all, Pablo was one, Mcgrath another, then you have players like bamford, harrison and roberts who must have ripped it up in training and thats where it stopped.
I was just ruminating if lots of fans filled it in and as an ultimate expression of fan power the team formation and the player selection that was the most popular would be fielded on match day. A team democratically elected as the best combination by the majority of fans.
Would it work... I don't think so.
How would the fans react if their team selection lost? They would have no excuses.
How would those fans feel if their team selection was not played? They would be argumentative as ever.
What if democratic team selection was a complete disaster and brought more problems than it solved? They would have a conspiracy theory that the ballot box had been tampered with.
I would suggest that an intimate knowledge of a players physical and mental health, his confidence levels, his interactions and communication with his fellow teammates, his leadership qualites, might be more critical in team selection than doing it by fan opinion poll.
Are football matches only played so that fans can have differing opinions, and entertainment and league position are minor considerations?
