Transfer News Maximilian Wöber-Gone

Post by Cjay »

This is from a Fabrizio Romano exclusive so some credibility.

24 year old 6ft 2 left footed cb and very occasional left back, but most definitely primarily a centre back as his club stats show.

Red Bull Salzburg Captain.

Former Ajax and Sevilla player.

A fee of between £9-14mil being discussed.

Important thing here is he is primarily a cb.

Is he any good? Seems cheap considering how much a decent CH goes for...

Red Bull Salzburg are good at finding gems, Haaland, Mane etc.

But it's a risk, Kristensen for example was a star at Salzburg but looks a yard to slow for Premier League.

It's a risk I'd say but you have to hope he is another gem.

If he is our left back signing though I'd be concerned and the fact Sevilla got rid quickly.

Ok, he might be a good player - you can’t really tell all that much from the YouTube montage, but it’s slightly worrying that we can’t seem to look beyond RB Salzburg.

Looking at his previous clubs he has played for he's going backwards IMO. I'd like to be suprised, but I don't think I will be if he ends up here. Most of the time you get what you pay for, 90% of the time it's true for footballers at the top level.

I get your point BBGG. But the reality is it's one of the few markets we can financially play in with a proven track record for developing players that can make the jump to a higher league. With the peripheral benefit of system familiarity.

Seems if we bring in this guy that Pascal is staying at LB.

When is the last time this club signed a player directly out of South America Scooby? Because outside of MLS and the Red Bull network that is one of the few other markets we can play in financially. And I don't think we even have a scouting network down there. Really naive in my view.

If it is as a replacement for Cooper fine.

If it is so we can keep playing Struijk at left back or even him as left back then it's not.

Info coming from Fabrizio Romano, so pretty credible.

Disappointed he's not a left back. We have 2 left footed CB's. Always figured Cooper is the incumbent and Strujik (having just signed a contract) is the future there. Does this mean Leeds see Strujik as out left back for the immediate future?

Yes, but how many of them have the track record of RB Salzburg? That's the point.

Looks like it will be Struijk which not keen on

Interestingly big criticism of Marsch at Leipzig was his insistence on playing more defensive minded players at full back when the system requires mobile attack minded ones for width.

He played Gvardiol for example.

If we're only shopping in one shop then maybe RBL is that shop .... the Walmart of European football clubs
