What is the point in persevering with Victor Orta?
Two more fictional signings not happening.
Told you all weeks ago we'll make no more signings
Orta has been jollying around Europe for the last couple of months, how much has that cost LUFC for what.....
NOTHING!
Ignored potential signings on our own doorstep.
Orta is a waste of space, all the decent signings are Marsch's picks, what does he do to earn such a huge salary is a mystery?
Still living off the Bielsa/Raphinha signings in all his time at Leeds, I suspect.
Orta bids for players who are unavailable & are going elsewhere to make it look like we're in business, but its just a scam to convince the naive, yet many of our fan base fall for the scam.

Shouldn't have waited till the last minute.
Simple as that.
We first spoke to Gakpo's agent months ago (player said himself) and in his words "nothing came of it".
Rodrigo injury made them panic.
Kinnear will be drafting his "well we tried" notes for the next home game.

Re: What is the point in persevering with Victor Orta?
Jeez - what's all this waiting till the last minute nonsense? We got out and did our deals very early on and got in players we wanted - yes we maybe could have tried to play hardball re Raphinha and KP fees but in doing that we may have missed out on our targets.
Whilst I think the majority of first team signings this summer have been made because Marsch wanted them rather than being specific Orta targets (Aaranson maybe a bit of both with Orta being keen on him prior to Orta's arrival and possibly Roca too with him not being a Red Bull project) I think Orta gets full say on the youth side of things and I think we are now beginning to see the fruits of that project with Gelhard and Greenwood and hopefully others beginning to push for more first team minutes. It is interesting when fans lambast Orta that they bring up the youth signings that didn't make it but we are beginning to see the players that we actually paid money for start to really impress whilst a lot of the early free/low cost signings haven't made it - not that much of a surprise really that players that were cast offs or coming through at a lower level aven't been able to make the step up. The youth project is the key to our future (unless we get a Saudi type owner) but it doesn't happen overnight - don't forget Wilko's ten year plan that came to frutiion after around 10 years but O'Leary got the benefit of rather than Wilko. It isn't just a case of bringing in youngsters that look great then fade (such as our class of 92 FA Youth Cup Winners that faded into obscurity) but also bringing in enough youngsters so the team can play a certain way and a few will shine even if a lot don't make it.

Marsch has wanted an attacker all summer (said so in an interview days ago).
It's literally a last day dash
Hardly great planning.
If you wait till the last minute you leave yourselves open to getting shafted.
They waited and waited and dithered for months on a crucial role in our team (won't even mention left back which is utterly bizarre).
Kinnear treating fans like idiots in his notes and talking crap about having better forward lines than the majority of the league.
Radz liking tweets about signings which the Square Ball have called him out for today.
It's poor planning in a role we desperately need and have needed for ages.

Generally good summer with incomings although all seem to be marsch signings except the young lad from city.
Baffling with the striker signing though...we've been crying out for a new striker for a season and a half now...need to be proactive not reactive. We saw weeks ago paddy might struggle fitness wise again too! Will be a long difficult season I think

That Kinnear quote has to be a joke, hasn't he noticed the firepower of the other PL clubs, he must live in a bubble!

They are Marsch signings, god knows where we would be without Jesse's influence.danhirons wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 10:17 am Generally good summer with incomings although all seem to be marsch signings except the young lad from city.

All five signings are JM's, looking excellent & improving match by match.
Just like the central midfielder issue until Marsch arrived, we haven't signed a No.9 in four years. Majority of PL clubs have three or four in their squad.

Re: What is the point in persevering with Victor Orta?
The best options we’ve been linked with were never coming here anyway. Who have we actually lost out on by not acting sooner.
Re: What is the point in persevering with Victor Orta?
I'm still waiting to see a 'little gem' he's uncovered by going around lower tier grounds and properly 'scouting'.
That to me is proper scouting, unearthing young talent that you spotted with your own eye, a 21yo kid playing at left back for say Kidderminster etc, in my eyes he's a fcking Monkey with a pin that doesn't know his arse from his elbow re football talent and it's all pot luck with him.
Out of 70 odd signings i'm pretty my own mother could get 'lucky' with one or two.
You look at some of them (well the vast majority actually) and you've just gotta scratch your head and think 'how the fcuk did you actually watch him and then go and actually sign him ffs!!!
De Bock, Grot, Firpo (13 fcking million!!!) Douglas, Costa packet!, Sacko shyte !...the fcking list is endless, and i only had to watch 15 mins of Grot, De Bock to know they'd be useless at ANY fcking level never mind Premier.
WHERE THE FCK ARE THEY ALL TEARING UP TREES AT THE MOMENT ???? Any of em playing for Bayern Munich !!! lol
He's a gambling waste of space, and i'm going for a lie down before i smash my keyboard to pieces.

Re: What is the point in persevering with Victor Orta?
There are strikers out there, we go for the ones unattainable.
Apart from the overpriced Dan James, when was the last time we signed a player for the first-team from a English club?

I suspect Orta watches YouTube & views the best bits of a potential signing & thinks he looks good....lazy scouting!
The reasons he didn't go on the Australian tour because he was busy searching for new signings apparently, he's spent two months wasting resources to come up with nothing. Maybe if he concentrated nearer home, we'd have more success finding the right players who want to play for Leeds,

By the way, 75% of the content of my opening post came from three respected ex-MOT members, very good friends whom I communicate with on a daily basis, more or less!

That was my point before Leon, re several players from relegated teams. But we are always looking for the “clever” option as opposed to the bleeding obvious.

Re: What is the point in persevering with Victor Orta?
The early summer business was good, difficult to argue otherwise, but the left back and striker scenario is just plain weird. Firpo might be a two season project and surprise us all, but we have no cover there (bar Struijk played out of position) at all. As for the striker situation, it was obvious last season we needed additional firepower. Despite the emergence of Joffy, and the now injured Rodrigo finding his shooting boots, that situation hasn't changed. I know decent strikers are at a premium, but other clubs manage to sign them so why can't we? Baffling and frustrating.

I'm serious, day in and day out from tomorrow what will the stealing a living dickhead be doing from 9.am to 5pm.
Who holds him accountable for all the shyte he's signed ??? Who actually goes to him and says...'are you fcking serious about this Sacko shyte guy ? You actually went and paid good money for Douglas Costa Firpo De Bock'???
Who holds him accountable and puts his feet to the fire, coz i know if it was my money i'm be going fcking bonkers at him and saying ....." CALL YOURSELF A FCKING SCOUT, YOU'RE BRINGING ME NON STOP FCKING DUDS YA FCKING CLOWN, THERE'S THE DOOR, GET THROUGH IT"

Re: What is the point in persevering with Victor Orta?
The OBVIOUS doesn't exist at Leeds United, Jay
We are running before we walk going for big names who don't want to play for LUFC, maybe if we could offer CL/Europa Cup football as a carrot, things would be probably different.

I will 100% guarantee ya, out of all the LB's playing in the Championship, there is a better one than Firpo.

But how the fck can this man know a good footballer from a bad one when he signs people like De Bock, Grot and all the other duds,
What does that tell me ? He hasn't got a good eye, or there's no way he actually watches them live, if he does actually watch them, he's only showing us how useless he is that he then goes and puts pen to paper !
How the fck do you actually watch Sacko shyte etc over 5 games and then go and actually pay good money for him! It's baffling and beyond me, i couldn't sign De Bock for a £1 after seeing him for 30 minutes, i might give him the benefit of the doubt that he had an off day the day i watched him, but i'd go again to make sure and think ....." no, i was right the first time, he's shyte"
It tells me he just doesn't have a football brain himself and has never played the game at any level.
