I'm terrible with mozzies, always swell up. Cover myself with Skin So Soft if I'm going anywhere where I'm likely to be bitten.

I used to have to cover completely in my career but the buggers always got me, couldn't really put spray on because of the scents, now I get bit in my garden even though I use deet and things like that.

I also got stung during a bowls match last Monday, I realised immediately as I pulled the sting out of my left leg, doses of bee-sting ointment, calamine & tcp since, only seems to be healing up today.

Midge bites seem to be constant with me throughout this summer!

When a bee stings you it disembowels itself.
Last laugh to us I suppose.
I particularly hate horseflies. Nasty things.

Horseflies are super aggressive. Felt a bit sorry for the bee tbh.

I read they cut the skin of their target with saw like jaws which makes it more painful. Then suck the blood for their eggs. Grim.
Bees don’t sting that often in fairness, I suppose they know the deal.
People kill wasps but they are vital for biodiversity. Great predators. I can often hear them scratching the fence for nest material.

First time I'd been stung by a bee since I was about seven - so half a century. I appreciate wasps for all that they do, but horseflies can definitely depart swiftly.

Don't you just hate it when a wasp has crawled inside your can of 7up, and when you take a sip it decides to come out and sting you on the lip?

Wasps are in decline and are now under threat from the Asian hornet.
I’ve yet to find out what use a horsefly is but I’m sure it has one. Easy to swat though. They don’t seem to have the same swat avoidance system as normal flies.

Hate mozzies, not long back from Lake Garda & the wee #**##%* were like attack dogs. The missus rarely gets bitten but after a couple of days she was covered as well. Got some Jungle Formula which worked better but dogs & cats were dropping dead as we walked past them, rancid stuff.

They're great pollinators while being a food source for bats, birds and even fish... They don't spread disease like mosquito's and other insects

I knew they’d have a use. Nature always has a plan.
Mind you they feed off cattle & sheep etc so I’m surprised they don’t spread disease

Been picked up by a horse before. Not at a disco. I was stood outside it’s stable and it stuck its head out and bit me on the neck/shoulder and lifted me about a foot off the ground. Very painful love bite.

Last 2 nights we’ve had thousands of crows/rooks (?) fly over at almost the exact same time. Never seen this before. It’s an impressive sight. But why is it happening?

You’re having too much gin, and not enough tonic.
