Not usually, it’s still classy forward play in a Bielsa tweaked style - just not tonight

The thing is, we need this competition for the youngsters to get a taste of higher level football ( the hardship and graft part of it) because we are pissing the U21 league and think we are better than we are.

Shocking penalty shoot-out, and it's not yet pantomime season (oh yes it is) maybe they've been watching bamfords greatest penalties.
That line-up ought to have won handsomely in normal time.

Yes, great experience for our young lads.

Extremely poor considering that 9 of the starting XI would be consdered to either be int he first team squad or pushing for a place in it

Crewe also rested quite a few players, so yes, a poor effort.
Until time added on our defence was on easy street all game and we bossed the midfield with ease, but in attack …congested and narrow with poor touches.
Drameh was a virtual winger, but jeez was he terrible.

Would you say our style of play is Marsch orientated, the new coach orientated, still Bielsa orientated or some horrendous mish mash of all 3?

Last night it was all three but until then it’s been more entertaining, Bielsa-lite if you like.
Gnonto has stayed wide but on the left we’ve had less width with Drameh being the wide man when attacking.
It’s better to watch than the first team this season but that could be because it’s less stressful too.

As other members have said PL2 is too easy for our current crop of U21s, where we can blow away any team that tries to take us on. The Crewe manager admitted after the game that Leeds U21s were a good side, better than them. Therefore they played a game to stifle our tactics which seem to not change from game to game, never mind during stages of a match. It is a good lesson for the future, both for our young prospects but also the coach Skubala. The pity is that having been knocked out, tougher tests are denied now for this season, except with the first team, such as the Carabao Cup next week. Where I believe we should try to win, with a decent mix of experience and youngsters. Simply because the youngsters will improve for the experience, which could be vital if first team resources are under pressure, come the end of the season.

Disappointed to go out. As you say, would be nice for these guys to play more games at a higher level. I really feel it is important for them to get promoted again next season. It will help us keep attracting better young players. And it will keep them happier playing at a tougher level when they're not getting first team minutes.

I don't think we'll see too many youngsters in the Carabao. Marsch will want to try and advance in the competition. He'll be careful with players carrying niggles - like this week Rodrigo and Adams are doubts. They'll probably play a premier league game but not a cup game. So, I think he'll put out his strongest team and rotate 4 or 5 with squad members - Ayling, Llorente, Fripo, Klich, Bamford, Summerville, Greenwood.

Not likely to see Perkins, Joseph, Gyabi, or Gray in the cup games.
