The Open is balloted now. Tried for next years Masters & failed. Got a quote for a company for 4 days tickets, accommodation & flights - 15k each 😱
My brother went the year Zach Johnson won for about 2k all in. How times have changed.
Friend went to the Masters last year
Said it was ridiculous - to any of the top players - especially on the weekend - you're always standing in a crowd that is 20 deep.

He said he ended up just basically walking the course. He's a 6 handicap, so decent golfer and wanted to try to simulate playing it - said the TV doesn't do justice to the elevation change on most holes.

Yanks had a go today though.
Funny thing happened.... about a 1/2 hour after the result, I get an email from Golf Digest (I get regular emails from them), with the title:
"Why the Ryder Cup is broken".
Went on at length about how home team always wins (not true) blah, blah.
You could almost hear the sour grapes dripping off the page.
Wonder if he'd have written that if the US had won? (Somehow I doubt it).

Jeez, gonna have nightmares later.

Oh god it’s fortified wine with added caffeine. Sounds like an Aldi wine.
Young ones swear by it as a warm up before heading out, made at Buckfast Abbey by monks so must be good for you 🙄

Yeah my brother said it’s unbelievably different from tv. Would love to walk round there. Wonder if Augusta have upped the crowds a bit as I think it’s generally considered the best viewing major. You get to place your seat don’t you. That’s pretty unique.
But elite sport is becoming the domain of the rich as you generally need to be buying on the secondary market at massively inflated prices.
I used to always get tickets in the Wimbledon ballot. Haven’t been successful in a while. Simple maths isn’t it, way more people entering the ballot = less chance

Pretty sad isn't it
I'm hoping to go to a game at the next World Cup here in North America. But I'm not paying $300+ to go and see Canada or the US play Jamaica or New Zealand!!

As a matter of interest what do you pay to go to a Leeds game?
How much are season tickets and can you get them?

(Not that I'm looking - would be a slightly long commute). :roflmao:

Probably asking the wrong person. Never had a season ticket and not been to many home games (geographical issues) actually been to a lot of away games including Ipswich recently which was about £30 I think.
