Re: Post A Photo You’ve Taken
I recall when I was a kid, my mother’s favoured ‘weapon’ of choice, when you’d done something you shouldn’t was a wooden spoon from the jug in the kitchen. Once you saw her make her move I’d leg it down the hall and try and get up the stairs before the inevitable swinging spoon caught you on the back of the lower leg…..Happy daysSean_Nile wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 11:12 am Women's weapons of choice in domestic violence... quite a display. Andy Capp cartoon always had the wife at the door with a rolling pin. I read somewhere that steam irons and frying pans as well as rolling pins were the impliments most likely to be used in household attacks by women... perhaps it is when drudgery becomes too much, and it is the first thing that comes to hand that they use.

You are correct, you were unlucky or lucky for her to take her prey. The few times they've made kills in our gardens they eat them there, takes a couple of hours. We once had one take a pigeon in mid flight drop to our pond and drown it (I was in the middle of repairs so only a couple of inches of water) then proceed to de-feather and ingest his meal

ago i found a few lobster pots washed up and in one was a smallish lobster that was such a vivid blue colour ,no phone on me to take a picture i dropped it in the surf and it swam off at a good pace . If it was not a rare colour i would have taken it home for tea.

Caught a lot of lobsters net fishing as a youngster. Always a beautiful blue colour. Magnificent creatures but I couldn’t eat one now. Don’t know why. We often used to beg my dad to let us put them back just before going in the pot of boiling water. He occasionally let us.airedale wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 3:50 pm We look out at nature and admire its beauty from the top of the food chain. but its a battle for survival. Amazing they can get through a gap of that size. They must be able to collapse their skeleton.
I think they’re a common “problem” for lobster pot fisherman.
Sharks are 100% cartilage. That’s how they do it then.
