8 miles high has been my track of the sixties since the seventies ...

Album of the decade was probably Spirits debut

Popped into Beverley today & picked up a couple of cd's for £3

One of the albums was by a major American group I got nothing by them in my collection.

A two CD set The Very Best Of Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons (Jersey's Best) featuring 30 of the songs for 99p

Bargain!

I rarely buy compilations as I prefer studio albums

I remember purchasing this song as a 45rpm back then.

My old Dad loved Acker Bilk, so were we bought up on him, plus the big band sound on a Friday eve.....
My Mum loved the Shadows, so a mixed bag when I was growing up.
I'm a tad too young for the sixties tbh ....yeah right

Too young to remember the 60's at the time, my record buying only started in the 70's.

But looking at it now there's loads of great stuff there Stones, Chuck Berry, .

Album wise, if I had to pick one, it would be 'Let It Bleed'

Song wise, a few:
Animals - House of the Rising Sun
Buffalo Springfield - For What It's Worth
Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade of Pale

and possibly my favourite

Too young to appreciate the early sixties but from the mid sixties on there was some fabulous music around. The charts really meant something in those days when you had to sell heavily to get into the top twenty. Although by the late 60s I would have been more interested music that didn’t often make the charts.

Funnily enough I watched a documentary about The Seekers on t’internet last night and had almost forgotten what great harmonies they produced and what a fabulously pure voice Judith Durham had. May be seen as a bit “square” but there were some beautiful songs - being a folky/singer songwriter type of guy, to my taste anyway.

My mum & dad weren't keen on the 60s, they thought the Beatles, Stones, etc were just a noise, bless 'em  however they did love The Seekers. Judith had a pure voice as you say, Byebye
