Not normal, just may cost you more which we obviously won't do.

Prefer to leave it late as possible to save a few quid.

Cjay wrote: Fri Dec 16, 2022 7:40 pm You think the way we act in the transfer market is normal ?

Leaving deals purposely to the last day is normal?

Leaving gaping holes in the squad is normal?

We don't act like a normal 3rd season Premier league club, we act like a Championship one.

That's part of the problem.

Club has gone up a league but still ran on it like a Championship one.

16,17 senior players and a bunch of kids, that's Championship.

Said it before but I'm not negative, I'm a realist, give praise when it's due (as many posts on here will show) but not gonna blow smoke up the clubs arse

Anyway, Chelsea thread so won't say anymore
What gaping holes?
So no other teams do deadline day deals bar Leeds?
How do you know it's on purpose?

And you may try to convince yourself otherwise but you are negative...

And you may try to convince yourself otherwise but you are negative...
Dan James, Cody Gakpo, Bamba Dieng.

Left to deadline day and all not signed.

Marsch already said a striker was on our list all summer, why were we scrabbling around on deadline day and ultimately failing to get a striker? Know you will come back with Gnonto but he was never the plan for the summer (club have admitted that)

And a winger had been wanted since the summer to when we went for James in January

If it isnt on purpose then they are absent minded

Of course it's on purpose, doesn't happen by accident.

Orta sits on his hands for months then January 31st "oh s**t I was meant to be signing a player"and off he goes.

I've already said what holes and you are on here and the other forum and know fully well i am not in the minority on this.

Nope not negative, I call what I see.

Don't go along with fantasy scenarios like all these kids we call first teamers are definitely good enough

Or the injury riddled regulars who've been here for ages dont need replacing.

Or having a squad of senior players of 17,18 is perfectly usual for a 3rd season Premier league squad.

Realist not fantasist.

That really is my last post on this, can't stand it when threads go off track (yes I know it's partly my fault this time)

The other 3 were early tbf but that's an exception rather than the Norm.

Every other summer transfer window the players have arrived into July despite the Window opening early June.

The club are really slow to react and that is part of the problem.

Let's see January.

Club like us with glaring issues in the squad should imo have minimal 1 player (either a LB,striker or cm) in by January 7th.

And 2 by January 15th at the absolute maximum.

Yes it may cost a bit more but that is the risk you take if you choose to operate on a that'll do it bare minimum attitude.

If it gets found out you have to spend more to fix it.
What you have to look at though is the financial aspect. We can't just simply go out ands stockpile players. Last January we presumably had the money for Aaronsen available as such although we weren't able to get the deal done in January we secured the agreement that we would sign him for a set fee. We then signed Roca and RK fairly quickly and Adams not long after - presumably when we knew for definite that Kalvin Phillips would be leaving - if KP had decided not to leave or the offers for him were not acceptable then we probably wouldn't have signed Adams (and as such have simply added Roca to our midfield o play alongside KP). Same issue with Sinisterra, we probably had him lined up for a while and the deal in place but couldn't sign him until we knew what we were geting for Raphinha - if either the KP or Raphinha deals went through earlier then likely we sign their replacements (Adams and Sini) earlier - what we didn't want is a situation where we thought we were getting the money for a player, then go out and buy the replacement before finding the player doesn't leave us (like what happened when Ridsdale thought he had agreed a deal to sell DaCourt to Lazio for £15m and spent £7m on Seth Johnson only for DaCourt to then decide not to leave leaving us with a £7m defecit, instead of an £8m profit and also having to pay wages).

I think we also had around £30m set aside for if a top target became avaialble CDK or Gakpo but if we spent part of that on a back up left back or back up striker then we no longer have that full amount left.

I think this window incomings will largely depend on whether Harrison is sold. As such we likely won't do any major business until such a point where JH is sold. We may spend a little bit but I doubt we will make a major splash unless JH is sold.

Although Chelsea were in control, they made hard work beating the cherries at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea's first victory in six games, only four goals in those matches.

Their £48m signing in the summer, Sterling has only found the net four times in the Premier League this season, hasn't scored in Chelsea's last eleven games.

Potter has a worse record than Jesse over the last six games with star-studded line-up.

Chelsea showing how its done
Chelsea have signed France defender Benoit Badiashile from Monaco for £35m on a seven-and-a-half-year contract.

Badiashile, 21, has spent five seasons in Ligue 1 and made 135 league appearances for Monaco.

Whets with the seven and a half year contract for him, that’s madness.

Ffp.

Payments spread over contract length.

Longer contract=cheaper payments.

Cheers CJ, makes a bit more sense that.

The player won’t complain, of course, presumably well protected against an early “sell on”.

Yea,although he lost 2 good players early on, it didn't bother me one bit, look at thier bench , the 5 sub rule benifits the top sides, city brought on £160 million pound worth of talent in 2 players, within a minute it paid off, who says money doasen't talk.

For anyone who thinks FFP is a genuine way to curb spending.

Chelsea have spent about £300mil since the summer.

Just fees remember, doesn't take into account wages or signing on fees.

This doesn't include the attached transfer.

Doesn't include the £70+mil they offered for Enzo Fernandez.

Or the £50mil deal for Christopher Nkunku they have agreed for the Summer.

They've gone absolutely mad under this American owner

Real life Football Manager and blown any myth about FFP away.

Very talented but really odd deal this.

Expensive
Only a loan (no option to buy).
He even signed a new deal at Atletico before he came.

I could understand why we may do it or an Everton, desperate to avoid relegation etc.

But Chelsea?
