Not normal, just may cost you more which we obviously won't do.
Prefer to leave it late as possible to save a few quid.

What gaping holes?Cjay wrote: ↑Fri Dec 16, 2022 7:40 pm You think the way we act in the transfer market is normal ?
Leaving deals purposely to the last day is normal?
Leaving gaping holes in the squad is normal?
We don't act like a normal 3rd season Premier league club, we act like a Championship one.
That's part of the problem.
Club has gone up a league but still ran on it like a Championship one.
16,17 senior players and a bunch of kids, that's Championship.
Said it before but I'm not negative, I'm a realist, give praise when it's due (as many posts on here will show) but not gonna blow smoke up the clubs arse
Anyway, Chelsea thread so won't say anymore
Dan James, Cody Gakpo, Bamba Dieng.
What you have to look at though is the financial aspect. We can't just simply go out ands stockpile players. Last January we presumably had the money for Aaronsen available as such although we weren't able to get the deal done in January we secured the agreement that we would sign him for a set fee. We then signed Roca and RK fairly quickly and Adams not long after - presumably when we knew for definite that Kalvin Phillips would be leaving - if KP had decided not to leave or the offers for him were not acceptable then we probably wouldn't have signed Adams (and as such have simply added Roca to our midfield o play alongside KP). Same issue with Sinisterra, we probably had him lined up for a while and the deal in place but couldn't sign him until we knew what we were geting for Raphinha - if either the KP or Raphinha deals went through earlier then likely we sign their replacements (Adams and Sini) earlier - what we didn't want is a situation where we thought we were getting the money for a player, then go out and buy the replacement before finding the player doesn't leave us (like what happened when Ridsdale thought he had agreed a deal to sell DaCourt to Lazio for £15m and spent £7m on Seth Johnson only for DaCourt to then decide not to leave leaving us with a £7m defecit, instead of an £8m profit and also having to pay wages).Cjay wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 2:55 pm Adams was well into July.
The other 3 were early tbf but that's an exception rather than the Norm.
Every other summer transfer window the players have arrived into July despite the Window opening early June.
The club are really slow to react and that is part of the problem.
Let's see January.
Club like us with glaring issues in the squad should imo have minimal 1 player (either a LB,striker or cm) in by January 7th.
And 2 by January 15th at the absolute maximum.
Yes it may cost a bit more but that is the risk you take if you choose to operate on a that'll do it bare minimum attitude.
If it gets found out you have to spend more to fix it.
Potter has a worse record than Jesse over the last six games with star-studded line-up.mentalcase wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 10:35 pm Close game toneet although city shaded it like, glad chelsea lost as well.

Cheers CJ, makes a bit more sense that.
Yea,although he lost 2 good players early on, it didn't bother me one bit, look at thier bench , the 5 sub rule benifits the top sides, city brought on £160 million pound worth of talent in 2 players, within a minute it paid off, who says money doasen't talk.
Signed, sealed & let's hope he doesn't deliver.
To help achieve a top 4 finish and champions league money.
