Re: Spurs Thread - How great is Lucas Moura?
How great is Lucas Moura?
Involved in all three goals, including a thumping header.
Just the type of midfielder LUFC requires, a little man as strong as an ox who runs at defenders causing mayhem, excellent passer of the ball too!
Moura was the difference between us & them when they beat us 2-1.
What a difference Conte has made to a Spurs side who were underperforming
Conte getting the best out of Moura, a Brazilian winger Spurs signed four years ago for £25m

Re: Spurs Thread - How great is Lucas Moura?
He was very good yesterday, 64.
He has always shown in flashes that he is a very good player (think ‘great’ might be pushing it) but hasn’t seemingly ever put together a lengthy run of form. To be fair previous manager’s seem to have chopped him in and out of the team and therefore it must be difficult to perform consistently without the continuity of a first team place. But in Conte he seems to have a manager who has the faith in his abilities and he was top drawer yesterday.
The desire and commitment to get to that header above the Palace defender was perhaps not a trait you’d have seen from him previously

Agree Cat, Conte has worked the oracle with Moura.Muppet the Cat wrote: ↑Mon Dec 27, 2021 10:35 am He was very good yesterday, 64.

It's not shown on that clip, Moura actually started the move on the halfway line beating two Palace players with his pace before playing the ball out wide, then darting into the box for a header he should never have won, credit for his determination & desire. Also put it on a plate for Kane & Son's goals.
Was impressed with Moura when I saw him in the flesh back in November.
This is his season under the guidance of Conte.

Difficult for him with kane & son in the starting line-up, but he's a cracking talent.
Conte is manager I would have liked when MB goes, won't happen now like.

Normally boxing day is the time for big crowds,
Maybe an accumulation of : Covid, uncertainty of entry due to covid passport, money and travel arrangements.

Re: Spurs Thread - How great is Lucas Moura?
Actually, Moura had a good first season with Spurs scoring 10 goals in 32 games from the wing.
I did say Costa seem to be getting the best out of him.
Moura, Son & Kane are a formidable front three when they are in full flow, now they are firing, Spurs have gone up from below mid-table to 5th in the table.

Re: Spurs Thread - the two sides of VAR?
VAR quick to overturn Kane's strike which was marginally offside.
Where was VAR for the non-Doherty challenge after the Saints keeper had fumbled the ball into his own net??

Atleast we aren't the only club having a pathetic window.
Tottenham thought they were closing in on Adama Traore . . . . Then Barcelona came in and it was bye bye Spurs.
Then we're very close to signing Colombian wizard Luis Diaz . . . . .then Liverpool came in and it was bye bye Spurs.

Re: Spurs Thread
How good was Harry Kane last night?
Probably the best centre-forward display I've seen this season, imo!

Re: Spurs Thread
Was he showing Man City what they missed out on in the summer?
