Re: Your Pint of choice this evening
I've got a nice French red just about finished (a glass left) then I have one bottle of Porter in the fridge. The Mrs is in Canada visiting her folks else I'd send her down the Offy (I'm too lazy)! I'll have to hit the watermelon liqueur or the whiskies I have buried in the cupboard after the Porter (else go Offy)...

No Morrisons locally alas.Muppet the Cat wrote: ↑Sat Oct 22, 2022 5:43 pm You should give the Hen Harrier a go, it's nice - a Pale Ale at 4.5%, so within your parameter of preference
Haven't tried it before, but picked up a couple of bottles in Morrisons. I don't tend to go in there very often and they had a beer festival promotion on a few weeks back, with some I hadn't come across before so picked up a few new ones try.
You might struggle to find it in Aldi though ..................although don't knock the place as Hobgoblin (my usual go to beer of choice, as I like a red/ruby beer) is as cheap in there as anywhere.
I used to buy a lot of cheap beer in Aldi but I do struggle with the clientele in there as you know

No, apart from the lady after a saveloy. Very persistent.Muppet the Cat wrote: ↑Sun Oct 23, 2022 5:23 pm Bet you didn't even attract a second glance in there
You’d like this Cat. Amber Ale 4.8%
Lovely. Brewed about 8 miles away in Sudbury

They have a stout from them too but I’ll be stocking up on this. Proper Ruby ale. Lovely gear.
London Pride came first I reckon

Re: Your Pint of choice this evening
Aldi Coffee Porter is like £1.29 a bottle (500ml) and it's lush! That said, I'm normally an IPA drinker (or Amber/Ruby) but am on Guinness tonight...
Re: Your Pint of choice this evening
Getting back to pleasure....I am drinking Abbot Ale Reserve @ 6.5%....4 x 500ml bottles for £6 at Tesco.....tasty and doesn't seem too strong.

You said to me the other night Cat about London Pride or Suffolk Pride, who’s been brewing longest. I don’t know but Suffolk Pride is made by Mauldons since 1795. It’s on the neck of the bottle. Never heard of them till now and they’re just up the road. I’ve had quite a few now tbh!

Re: Your Pint of choice this evening
I know, I tried a Chimay Triple (which I picked up in Tesco) last week which was 8%.......it was OK, but I don't overly enjoy the stronger-really strong ones.
You see the Leffe Blonde and Brune everywhere and I notice they've started doing the cans and 330ml bottles here as well. Blonde is even on tap in the Spoons near me. However, you try and find somewhere that sells the Ruby. Asda used to but stopped a year or two ago. I now have to order it from Amazon, although in the last 6 months it's gone up from £20 to £26 for 6x 750ml bottles........but still worth it
(and I came across the glass in a charity shop for 20p )
Give it a try, Foxy........lovely stuff !

So it’s an Amazon job. No problem.
£1 a bottle increase is quite a lot. Hang on a 750ml bottle. Nice

Yes, thing is when you polish one off......the good lady wife seems to think that justifies her drinking the same size bottle

That’s ok. Keeps them quiet. I didn’t say that mind you. Keep that one to yourself.Muppet the Cat wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 6:10 pm Yes, thing is when you polish one off......the good lady wife seems to think that justifies her drinking the same size bottle
