I think comments were made about him on the match thread.

I thought Gelhardt did really well considering the mayhem he arrived into. He gets into proper goal scoring positions when the ball is being moved through midfield. He picks a line and shows where he wants the ball every time. It often doesn’t arrive but he’s ready all the time. I also like the speed with which he strikes the ball. A couple of times yesterday he pushed the ball slightly out to his left and struck almost immediately. This gives any defender a problem in reaching that shot. His shot on target came from that kind of quick adjustment and shot.

He was also unlucky not to get on the end of an early cross from Raphinha (I think). He’s also strong in holding up a ball, even in traffic. All good as far as I’m concerned. Looking forward to see much more of him.

Didn’t he get a hat trick the last time he played Liverpool?🧐 Same again please!

His movement in & around the box is brilliant, Boo. Sadly, no one found him with a decent pass!

The most important goal since Pablo at Swansea?
What determination

5ft7 Joe determined to win the header vs the 6ft+ defender.

Raph determined to get ahead of the defender and then the goalkeeper

Brilliant moment and could well prove to be such an important goal in the context of this season.

The celebrations were manic, you can't beat that not being there, especially with a last minute winner.

I insisted last season, Joffy was our best U23s player by a country mile

Joe Gelhardt vs. Norwich:

92’ ➡️ Subbed on for Klich
94’ ⚽️ Scored the match winner

6 mins played
5 touches
2 successful passes
2 duels won
1 shot on-target
1 final third pass
1 big chance
1 match winner
1 ball recovery

Immediate impact. Match winner. 🙌

I just wish he could have had more game time this year. I really believe we’d be in a better position if he was fully match fit and integrated fully into the first team.

The determination of the injured Rodrigo to sprint half the length of the pitch to be one of the first to celebrate with Gelhardt. Determination all round :scar1 :scar1

Disappointed really, . Joffy should've stopped it dead and put it in with his head

Best bit was the Norwich fans chanting "you're not singing anymore" then Raph's through on goal.

We wouldn't have lost the Newcastle game had Joffy started, the amount of times Raphinha got round the back of the barcodes defence & crossed the ball to nobody with a No.9's nous was ridiculous!

Glad no one dropped him while hugging him, knowing our luck he would've been injured.
