Not a hater, but the slide started with Bielsa, not after he left.

Summer 2021 is when it all started to go wrong.

Very true, use the old tried narrative as a beating stick for what's going on now. I am sure he will be digging up people's posts to validate his cause. He's good at that.

He can dig up my posts, and everything I said ended up being true sadly. But I was "negative", like many others on here.

Time for Robles to step in....

Meslier's confidence is shot, it wouldn't be fair on the lad to be confronted by Haaland & Co.

Give him a break from the pressure he is obviously under.

There were a couple of pundits talking about Leeds on the radio... One said should Leeds drop Meslier for Robles to which the other replied: "Absolutely not, Meslier is out of form, making errors and drained of confidence but Robles is crap"
"Never debate an idiot, they'll only drag you down to their level and they have the advantage of experience"

I feel for the kid. He's been brilliant overall for me since he has come in. The problem is there is not has much money to be made on buying in defenders so the club have not helped him out and we have had the same defencive set-piece problems since Pontus left.

Rasmus, Firpo, Koch, Ayling & Coops. I'd still take Coops says it all.

I honestly thought he should of been dropped after that goal he gave up to Coleman against Everton. Absolutely terrible positioning, and gave up a goal near post from the only angle Coleman had with no other Everton player in the box which led to a 1-0 defeat. His positioning has been terrible all season. He's still young, but right now he isn't a first team keeper in the premiership.

He needs to be dropped. His confidence is probably shot to pieces. I wouldn't have played him yesterday. He has potential, but for his own sake he needs to leave as he's going backwards with the set up we have at the minute. The club is rotten from top to bottom.

Bournemouth

Good
1 save

Bad
1 flap at a cross for the 2nd goal
1 questionable positioning for their 3rd goal
1 should have saved the shot straight at him for their 4th goal
3 kicks to nowhere

I've lost count on how many goals Meslier has cost us this season

Im with you bro.

PL was fantasy land for us pre Bielsa and this past 5 years has been more fun than the previous 15. I'll always be happy we had him. Made us special.

In my humble opinion he needs dropping for his own sake ,he needs 15kg to 20kg adding to his frame . He gets bullied at set pieces also extra weight would make some opponents bottle it in 1v1 situations . Sunday lunches at big Sams?
To be fair i think Schmeichel would struggle with that defence.

Somewhat related. Do we know if Big Sam has brought in his own GK coach? The one we’ve had was one Orta’s friends if I recall. Since Orta is gone…shouldn’t he be gone?

Re: Is Meslier good enough? Is it worth sticking Joel Robles in goal?

Post by Victor_Notts-17 »

I posted this in October last year! I just saw something in Robles that made me think/believe he was a better #1 than Meslier. I'd stick the robles for the rest of the season. I don't need to explain why: we all know...

Robles change was a good move on Sam’s part.
Of course Mes will be back but I’d stick with Robles now. The save he made right on the line was one I’d bet Mes in his current form would have let in.

Shame it took too long for someone to have the balls to drop Meslier. I thought Klaesson looked better than him v Wolves, but he seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth.

Robles definitely earned the start against Newcastle for me. Ride the hot hand and he is the hot hand at the moment.
