He just frustrates me at times. He’s a way better player than he shows under Southgate
Re: Kalvin Phillips
Waste of a good footballer being at City ,blink and he'll be in his 30s and his career will be over.He needs to be playing football regularly not day dreaming on the bench hoping he gets a couple of minutes.

How can he be happy warming the bench? When his grandkids ask him to show him the clips from his performances that won all those medals, he’ll only be able to show the ones of him warming up on the touch line then sitting down again. Where’s his self-respect? I am sad for the lad.

This will be his last season at City. Guaranteed he moves next summer.

Re: Kalvin Phillips
I suppose he has always hoped that opportunity knocks and he gets his chance through injuries. Personally, he must have realised it was going to be a big ask to get in that starting 11 when John Stones was preferred in midfield last season.
If he has a similar season again, with very few mins he has to go knocking on Guardiola’s door, maybe as early as the Jan window. Southgate’s faith in retaining certain players in the England squad regardless of current situation - does Phillips no favours. If he had been dropped he may have been pro-active in wanting to play more. But I can also see why he may feel that my chance is coming, whilst clicking his heels together. He obviously believes he is good enough and belief is very important.

Ok GS is a dummy, but i'll never for the life of me know why neither has even tried him in Berts fantastic 4-1-4-1 role in which he excels, especially Pep with all the attacking quality he has, how can they not have watched some of his Bert games for Leeds, coz imo they mustn't have done.
My mouth waters at Citeh playing 4-1-4-1 with KP just reading the play, intercepting play and passing to the 5 in front of him, just seems weird to me that he bought him and hasn't even tried him or it in the Milk cup or owt, ok he has his own systems he prefers, but i feel he don't know what he's missing out on, especially when Peps squad are fit and you have a front 5 of Grealish - De Bruyne - Foden - Alvarez and Haaland
I also noticed for England the other night him wasted with Rice when he can do it on his own and free another up to go forward.

I wonder if Leeds negotiated a sell on clause with City?
Probably did and if City sell at a loss we have to pay something towards it.

I don't think he's good enough to lake at the level city lake at, he was only good at ER because bielsa made a new position for him, I just don't rate him at the highest level.
Serves him right for going there.
I'm sure another top team will take a punt on him though.

Re: Kalvin Phillips
It's just typical of the modern game really , bit part players getting medals because they play for the biggest , richest side in the land . I do wonder what satisfaction they get playing a minor part, but having said that , I used to run and race regularly, I might make our clubs top team at times but I would be the last scorer in races ( say 4 to score ) , it was a satisfying thing to say you played a part however minor , as you did something to benefit, maybe that's the same with the modern footballer , especially due to squad sizes now...it's not the Revie era where they might use about 16 players over a season . Whatever, you can't take his medals away.BlancdeBlanc wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 8:43 pm How can he be happy warming the bench? It was pointed out on here Kalvin has more medals than Harry Kane at the moment, staggering really.

That was me Kev when Kalvin ran up to congratulate Kane. It just seemed very strange. I wonder if Kane feels the same.Barlow Boy wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 11:59 am

Now behind Nunes ( making his champions league debut ) in the queue as well.
How many hints does it take?

Re: Kalvin Phillips
The last minute sums it up. KP ,warming up on touchline hands the ball to Red Star player.
Within a minute ,Rodri puts it in the corner for 3-1. He's different class. Had a blinder tonight.

Re: Kalvin Phillips
What on earth is Kalvin thinking ££££€€€€$$$$££££. What a waste. I cannot see him getting into this Citeh side at all. Why would anyone worth their salt put up with this. He even said he was happy at Citeh....Oh Kalvin
Re: Kalvin Phillips
Rodri banned for 3 games for violent conduct. If he doesn't get a start now, then he never will.
