Could potentially have stopped that goal instead of admiring it. Piss poor tbh.

Not a bad read from The Athletic on Kalvin's situation and whether or not he made the most of his cup appearance against Newcastle last night:

I'm not sure Kalvin knows his place in this City side, when Marcelo arrived Kalvin was headed down the same route as Alex Mowatt, lots of unfulfilled potential and not looking like it would ever come together. Marcelo gave him structure in a system that suited but it took a season (where we often got that Kalvin we see above) before he really established himself as a player that could quarterback the team..

I don't think it's laziness just he's unsure of himself atm.

Don’t doubt that as he’s hardly been in the team plus a bigger stage with more pressure but when the balls gone past him his instinct might have been to keep moving instead of standing still. Maybe he intercepts the cross. Maybe not.
Pep isn’t going to build a team around Kalvin. He might have to adapt but he’d be better off moving.

Wow, he’s making no attempt to cover the 2 unmarked attackers just a few yards to his left.

If he’s looking for a place on the bench he’s going the right way about it.

Yes , I thought Viera was a better player back then , I thought KP would be gone and probably worth around 1.5m back then, now that was he magic of Bielsa , spotting something....a position KP was better suited for and he turned him into a 50m player.

The only pity about KP is that Marsh wasted the money we made on him.

Kalvin is best sitting in front of the back 4 with the whole field ahead of him. We've never had a player that could "see" a 40 yard pass like him. MB also used him as a third CB and a sweeper...

Push him up the field and he's not the same player

Exactly right about Pep not building a team around him. You dont make the other 10 players change the way they play just to please 1 individual. He has to learn City's way of playing, and it seems he isn`t quite up to that, for whatever reason.
He is a good player and i dont like to hear Leeds fans giving him grief these days, but its not working for him at City. If he was ready to play the way Pep wanted then he would have played many more games up to this point. They have one of the best, if not the best midfielder there is in Rodrigo and it would seem the sensible thing for him and City was to give him the odd rest and that's where you would have thought Philips would have come in, but that doesn't seem to be the case, so something doesn't sit right with Pep regarding Philips.

Seeing as it ain't gonna work out for him at Citeh now, i'm beginning to wish he'd have kept his gob shut and we'd have rung something like 80m out of scum for him, those dumb Glaziers might just have paid up, and KP in the wrong hands is just not a baller.

I’m struggling to believe any player with his ability is that typecast and one track. He can only play one role on a footy pitch?
Well Bielsa really was a magician then as he took a one trick pony and got us 50 mill. Fair play Bert.
Same with England though isn’t it. Can’t just blame it on GS the useless twat that he is. He completely underwhelms me in an England shirt.
Also wonder what it does to your confidence when you’re not involved. Must just get used to it which is part of his problem I suppose.

Should never have gone to Citeh. Believed in his own hype. Needs to get out in January. I think I'm losing respect for him.

Its a shame for the kid. He's needs to get out of Citeh and start playing football again somewhere its a short career to be wasting away on the bench when the manager doesn't rate you. He's got his token trophy wins Newcastle his next stop. Oh wait a minute....
