he isnt good good enough , he wasnt good enough last time , he was constantly injured or suspended even back then , not forgetting the amount of own goals he gifted to the other sides at the time and his disciplinary record to boot . jansson was a far better player more abilty ,passion , and commitment , same goes for cresswell he should never have been loaned out to millwall . would have more chance of a lampost at centre back than cooper , but many fans have worn dark glasses for years regarding the ability of most of the players at this club .

Re: Liam Cooper
What about the Cooper & Llorente combo at the tail end of our first premiership season when we only conceded 8, yes 8, goals in 11, I repeat 11, matches. Those matches seeing us playing Man U, Man C, Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs (as well as 6, you heard right 6, other teams).
I think if we'd had a fit Cooper and Llorente last season we'd have done better at the back.
Re: Liam Cooper
ok, well you're entitled to your opinion but it's a ridiculous one and pretty much incorrect on most fronts - jansson wasn't even there when we got promoted and cooper played 38 league games that seasongeronimo wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 3:35 pm he isnt good good enough , he wasnt good enough last time , he was constantly injured or suspended even back then , not forgetting the amount of own goals he gifted to the other sides at the time and his disciplinary record to boot . jansson was a far better player more abilty ,passion , and commitment , same goes for cresswell he should never have been loaned out to millwall . would have more chance of a lampost at centre back than cooper , but many fans have worn dark glasses for years regarding the ability of most of the players at this club .
the last season or two, coops injury record has been bad though

I think you'll find it was Struijk alongside Llorente for much of that purple patch, best period for both of them at Leeds.weasel wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 3:57 pm What about the Cooper & Llorente combo at the tail end of our first premiership season when we only conceded 8, yes 8, goals in 11, I repeat 11, matches. Re: Liam Cooper
Even more remarkable. Hopefully we can get Struyjk back to that level. I do think being messed about going to left back and then back repeaetedly did him no favours.
It's interested how both Struyjk and Llorente got a lot of flak over the last 2 seasons but I wonder if they actually played any games together. Llorente for me looked at his worst when playing left of centre along Koch. Equally I would say Struyjk looked poor when playing alongside Koch. Koch looked poor for most of his time at Leeds but seemed to look better alongside Wober. Key is dfinitely about finding a pair that works well together.

Re: Liam Cooper
jansson was sold because he did not get on with bielsa over the aston villa game where he allowed them to score a goal unopposed, jansson was a leader and was a far better player than cooper will ever be . he is playing playing premier league football with a small club like brentford . cooper meanwhile as spent more time in the treatment room than he as ever done on the pitch in the past two seasons. your right its a ridiculous argument . the facts are plain to see that jansson was a far better player. bielsa as gone , cooper is a crock and jansson is still playing and in the top flight as well .danhirons wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 4:23 pm ok, well you're entitled to your opinion but it's a ridiculous one and pretty much incorrect on most fronts - jansson wasn't even there when we got promoted and cooper played 38 league games that season

Re: Liam Cooper
Classic having a go at Cooper's injury record by using PJ. That would be the same PJ who managed just 723 minutes in the premier league last season and has left the club.geronimo wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 4:35 pm jansson was sold because he did not get on with bielsa over the aston villa game where he allowed them to score a goal unopposed, jansson was a leader and was a far better player than cooper will ever be . he is playing playing premier league football with a small club like brentford . cooper meanwhile as spent more time in the treatment room than he as ever done on the pitch in the past two seasons. your right its a ridiculous argument . the facts are plain to see that jansson was a far better player. bielsa as gone , cooper is a crock and jansson is still playing and in the top flight as well .
Re: Liam Cooper
when jansson and cooper were both at leeds , jansson was far the better player , if cooper his a first team choice next season i will eat janssons magic hat , even had a song sung about him . players that are any good reach an higher level . cooper as been playing at a level that he is simply not good enough to play at since the day he signed . if he was an horse he would have been put out to pasture years ago . in other words backing cooper next season is like flogging a dead horse , but some fans simply aint woke to that fact yet
Re: Liam Cooper
Don't know if this is a joke!
If true it will be interesting to see if Coops sells his soul after his recent comments.
To be honest, I wouldn't blame him if he accepted an offer.

Re: Liam Cooper
No, Coop was the better player, Pontus very poor in transition which was key for Marcelo hence replacing Pontus with the much better Berardi first chance he gotgeronimo wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 5:19 pm when jansson and cooper were both at leeds , jansson was far the better player , if cooper his a first team choice next season i will eat janssons magic hat , even had a song sung about him . players that are any good reach an higher level . cooper as been playing at a level that he is simply not good enough to play at since the day he signed . if he was an horse he would have been put out to pasture years ago . in other words backing cooper next season is like flogging a dead horse , but some fans simply aint woke to that fact yet

Re: Liam Cooper
It would be awesome to get a transfer fee for Coops.

Re: Liam Cooper
But we’d be back to square one with the captaincy. Maybe we should hold off until things are firmed up, otherwise that would be a bad omen.

In the twilight of his career I wouldn't blame him for going, would be interesting to see him put the shackles on messi and Co.
A fee for United would also be welcome.

Re: Liam Cooper
32 years old? Definitely in fade. We'd probably not get value for the player we'd lose.
