Bit unlucky in the end, but for woodwork could easily have left with all 3 points. Thought Greeno did well tonight, best game I've seen him have.

Would of been happy with a draw before the game but being so close to all 3 points is gut wrenching.
Agree thought Pontus was awesome and Green made 3 great saves, like Sacko but he needs to practice putting the ball in the back of the net, bring on Rotherham let's smash 4 passed them MOT

Monk has instilled a toughness mentality and it seems that the players that come in work well to the game plan except for Cooper

Have a feeling that Charlie Taylor won't be here once the Transfer window opens....Who knows maybe a deal has been done, hope not would love for him to commit to our Club with a new deal, why would you want to go to a Premier League Club to sit on the bench or being signed by a Club fighting for survival?

A few astute purchases to complement what we have and who knows our dreams could finally come to fruition.

We just drew a 1-0 win, 1st time for a while. We may come to regret that.
I hope the uncertainty about late equalisers doesn’t re-surface in future games.
If Huddersfield draw they’ll leapfrog us. If the wendies and Derby win as well we’ll be in 7th. All 3 have games against lower teams.
You have to fight for everything in this division. I haven’t seen the penalty incident but that’s 2 points chucked away over an error. Villa are a pretty good side but their record’s not that great. Last 6 LWLWWD.
What do winners do – hang on to 1-0s and we just failed.
It may not be terminal but we were getting the 1-0 and late winner mentality – I hope it doesn’t make us more fragile in games to come.

Dont think it will Norm. We deserved the 3 points tonight and I think the mentality is that we forget the last game and concentrate on the next....a good win against Rotherham and we move on to the next game ! BUT if only that Pontus effort had gone in !

Thought we deserved the win, another superb performance.
Player Ratings
Green 8- Excellent save at the end of the game and a solid game overall.
Ayling 9- MOTM Defended so so well against Ayew and his composure on the ball is incredible.
Pontus 9- Won every header, got another goal and was exceptional once again.
Cooper 7- Made one vital mistake, however, had a reasonably good game.
Berardi 7- Looked very comfortable at left back throughout.
Bridcutt 8- One or two poor passes in the first half, however, started 4-5 counter attacks with his passing. Played a crucial part in us controlling the game for large spells.
Phillips 7- Poor first 15 minutes, however, after that really started to play well.
Sacko 7- Caused Jordan Amavi (Villa left back) all sorts of problems his final pass or shot was disappointing overall.
Roofe 6- Had some very good moments in the number 10 role a quiet game overall.
Dallas 5- Didn't really create anything going forward substituted early on in 2nd half.
Doukara 6- Similar game to Roofe one or two good moments.
Substitutions:
Hernandez 7- Had a good impact and showed unbelievable skill at times.
Wood 7- Won every header and his vision, touch and control really helped us to try to push for the 2nd goal.
Did a quick review of the game as well

Cooper ( the new Wootton) gets all the blame but I think Sacko is equally to blame, how many times did he have a chance to go inside his man or the times he went on the outside and failed to get a cross in, this fella does nothing for me, gives away too many silly free kicks for pulling back on his marker, yes he has pace but other than the odd flash, flatters to deceive and he should have scored at the end. Of all the positions that have been mentioned for the January window a replacement for him is my priority, the fact he's the only player with that kind of pace we have is what keeps him in the team for me, very frustrating to watch.

Spot on, Ges, lost count of the number of times I yelled "lift yer head, ffs". Great pace but couldn't pass the salt or finish a fish supper. He either works on that or we find better. Feel a bit for Cooper, btw, thought he was very solid until the handball

Green 9 - Overall not a reliable keeper but with performances like that in his locker. Distribution is consistently good for me, crosses will always be hit and miss when your legs are stiffer than Neil Warnock's.

Ayling 9 - He seem to be everywhere

Cooper 6 - A good game but ultimately cost us the win with a silly mistake.

Jansson 9.5 (MOTM) - Gonna sulk, leave the country and spend the rest of my days crying in the streets of Arlöv if he doesn't sign. You won't be able to contact me

Berardi 7 - As solid & reliable as ever

Sacko 7 - Brilliant....then awful....then brilliant....The Sacko Show

Phillips 5 - Villa's most creative player. Does the dirty work off the ball very well. Was his weak header that led to the penalty i believe

Bridcutt 8 - Played a big part second half

Dallas 6 - The kind of safe, inoffensive performance
Styerrt specialises in. That cheeky back-heel was nice though.

Roofe 6 - As is often the case he threatened to look threatening but wasn't

Doukara 8 - Showed fantastic control and link-up play at times but often leaves us with nobody in the middle when he's supposed to be leading the line.

Hernandez 8 - Class act, all our play started to click when he came on. The rest of the team clearly  love him and the couple of moves he orchestrated before Cooper lobbed a hand grenade at the game were exquisite

Wood 6 - Looked rusty, probably still carrying his hamstring injury

Sacko. . Brilliant ...Awful...Brilliant.
Honestly, I can't recall anything brilliant, there was a sublime moment with Hernandez but Hernandez was the instigator. What else did he do that was so great. It might just be me but I don't see it. There are plenty of players with pace and little else, yes they frighten defenders because of their pace but often they fail to deliver. Gradel could be accused of the same from time to time but he delivered more often than Sacko does.

Sacko is an outlet for our midfield with pace to burn, chases down balls not many players would not even get close, problem is when on the ball no one has a clue what he's gonna do with it, I don't think he knows tbh. Wood had two goes at him for not looking up & laying the ball off. On a good day he looks awesome, last night he was guilty of choosing some really poor options. Sacko is exciting to watch but also very frustrating too, if he could only learn to play the final ball correctly he would be a world-beater. The potential is there, whether the application is there is open to conjecture

I'd agree the potential is there but he needs to use his brain more, at times I feel he lacks confidence to go round people when he gets the chance.

Unsure if he has a brain mate

There was one occasion when he had a one & one, why he didn't take the defender on I don't know as he'd have been in the box in oceans of space, instead he went backwards

I watched the game and I'm still bitterly disappointed with the stupid penalty we gave away. I agree Norm 2 points chucked away. I had also looked at our rivals opponents playing today and I see all of them winning their respective games. But, this is football and you never know, so I just hope were still top six come 5.o'clock.
