Wilfried Gnonto

Post by Cjay »

The very reliable Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has said tonight that we are trying to sign 18 year old FC Zurich attacker Wilfried Gnonto for a fee of around £4-5mil.

He is a full Italy international and there youngest ever goalscorer.

Last season he shone in Switzerland for FC Zurich managing 10 goals and 5 assists in all competitions in just in just 17 minutes worth of matches.

He is very versatile and can play anywhere across the forward line.

Stands only 5ft 5 but is known for his pace and dribbling ability.

He has long been tipped for stardom and turned down a contract at Inter to ensure he got first team football.

He is however largely unproven and very small in stature which will cause concern.

For Italian players Di Marzio is tier 1.

He is the equivalent of David Ornstein.

This is genuine.

Sounds like he plays about as much as Paddy & Joffy but with a better goal return

As geunine as it may be, we desperately need an established striker. Surely it really can't be that hard bringing one in.

It shouldn’t be this hard, we should signed one before now.
This guy does sound a bit small.

His preferred position is left wing do we really need another short, speedy winger ?

How good is the Swiss ‘Super’ League ?

Zurich currently 10th out of 10

Hard to tell much from his club record. But 4 appearances for Italy? Surely that says something...

For the price, we should snap him up. I share the concerns regarding an established striker, and even though Italy did not qualify for the World Cup, you don't get into their nationl team squad without having something about you.

Agreed, he would be ideal. A very clinical player and a much needed physical presence. Bamford a great a servant and all the other superlatives, but he's like Bamby at times. He doesn't have any real competition and would be better suited coming off the bench. I know Joffy is in the wings, but ongoing issues with injuries.

Yes it does, it says he's played for Italy 4 times.

Where we getting the money from for one? That would cost £60m+

Yeah, it's a little better than Brereton scoring against Peterborough and Bolivia!

Maybe not in the PL but I'd still take a chance on him.

So would I for 4/5 M but I suspect he's not available for that.
