Very sad to hear that Chris, that's horrible mate. I saw that you had a lot of comfort from Max.

We don't have a dog, but there are plenty of street dogs here in BG. A couple of years ago we and our son got friendly with a dog that a family just up the road had adopted.

Our son loved this dog and named it Emma. It was run over and left to die by some ba***rd who drove off laughing. I was at work at the time, but my mother in law saw it happen and said the w**ker killed the dog.

She picked it up and comforted the dog, but it does in her arms.

We were heartbroken and didn't have the stomach to tell our seven year old son what had happened. Every day we walk past the house he would look and shout for Emma, and we just told him she'd run away.

We told him eventually but he'd sussed it himself.

Still makes me sad thinking about it.
