You've got to finish above the blue scousers and Burnley, right? f**k it, one of them, just finish above one of them. That's all I, and the rest of the right-thinking world wants. None of this relegation nonsense. That's not what was supposed to happen this season. I've read the early draft and it was; tight race for the title, Norwich and Watford down, and Everton collapsing like a flan on the backseat of a knackered Corsa on a hot day.

Sort your s**t out.
Well, you left it late, but congrats on sorting your s**t out.

Unfortunately Chelsea bent over and Leicester played their reserves, which kept them up. At least they will keep useless Lampard next season, thinking he's some sort of genius. Hopefully they'll be far adrift when he's sacked.

Well they've little to no money, they'd have to sell Richarlison or DCL to get any kind of transfer budget and if they do that, they'll have to spread whatever they get for one or both of those over a squad in dire need of an upgrade.

Lampard is not a good manager, he's just the newer version of managers like Steve Bruce. Who did terribly at West Brom, despite us Newcastle fans being told he's a good coach and had done a good job up here.

Depending on how long he lasts, they could well go down next season.

Looks like they're giving Tarkowski £120k a week. They just don't learn!

Lampard takes after his uncle and will bankrupt them, like he did with Derby.

Yes, it's gonna be hilarious watching the latest Lampard s**t show.

The Everton fans probably think he's a messiah, but they're in for a rude awakening very soon.

He'll be sacked early on next season

The Toffees will struggle again next season due to Fwank & their financial crisis.

Definite top six for Newcastle, maybe top four if they spend a fortune in the summer on top of the £100 million already spent which ultimately saved them this season, they were in a bigger mess than LUFC, their improvement is quite remarkable!

Wouldn't have minded him at Leeds but we can't compete in the wages dept.

The barcodes have held talks with Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope.

The 30-year-old England international, who has a year left on his contract, would provide Eddie Howe's side with an alternative to Martin Dubravka.

Burnley are due to pay back a portion of a £65m loan because of their relegation from the Premier League.

Undisclosed fee.

SKY reporting a £10m deal

Peanuts for a top keeper.

If it's 10mill, that's deal of the summer so far.

Absolutely, Lumi

I think Pope is one of the very best keepers around - certainly as a shot stopper

That is the price of relegation.

Saying that comparatively speaking £10M in the championship buys you a hell of a lot more of a player than £30m in the PL.

So why were we not considering Pope at that fee?

Three reasons.

1. Pope wont want to be backup.

2. Meslier is first choice and will play for France one day.

3. 10M plus wages for a reserve keeper is just bananas.

Because we have a goalkeeper and Pope might not have been happy to sit on the bench

Newcastle now have three experienced & two young keepers.

We have two young keepers, one who was left totally exposed last season with his second in command still wet behind the ears.

We missed a trick there as £10m is nothing for a top keeper. I said as soon as Burnley were relegated we should raid their better players as they are cash strapped & there were a few bargains to be had, I doubt we even looked in that direction right on our doorstep.
