Will we ever see the like again?

Football has undergone a process of bielsification; pressing and possessing, passing rather than dribbling, intercepting high up the field rather than making last-ditch tackles, are in vogue.
Marcelo Bielsa. The light that will never go out.

I don't see it now so I guess we never will see it again.

Re: 30 years
Now, there’s a set of fans that (from the outside anyway) really have justification to be unhappy.
The first club that has been in the PL and subsequently dropped out of the Football League; and a seemingly hated ownership individual/group in control of their club.
Anyhow, getting back to William’s 30yrs ago - was it Right Said Fred at #1
Re: 30 years
Can't see us winning the Premier League in my lifetime, mindst I never envisaged us playing in the PL again, so hopefully my mindset is totally wrong!
Re: 30 years
30 years ago I was travelling from the South East & South West to watch Leeds home & away, by golly it was well worth it. Away games were easier than travelling up north to ER. those were the days when the availability of tickets were much easier to acquire.
Strachan, Batty, McAllister, Speed & Chapman in their pomp was great.
Three years later we travelled up to the Theatre of Sh*te, not a good day however I did witness Tony Yeboah score his debut goal for Leeds, I was three rows behind the goal.

Re: 30 years
Jeez to travel like that is a proper fan and i admire it because i can't be arsed watching them when they're shite, i just don't have it in me and consider it a glutton for punishment, no disrespect intended at all, i just don't see how you do it.1964white wrote: ↑Sat Apr 30, 2022 9:43 am 30 years ago I was travelling from the South East & South West to watch Leeds home & away, by golly it was well worth it. No William, i don't think i'll see it in my lifetime again, but i honestly did feel proper hope with Bert, i really did see what he wanted to do and on a budget, i feel he would've got us up there with the current Arsenals of this world and then if some money came along who knows? I currently don't see any light whatsover in my tunnel and we've gone backwards in my opinion and i will be proven right.

I’d forgotten the blo*dy Panda photo bombed all the pictures
Re: 30 years
Could noo-ne see the teletext pic?
Re my question.
It gets harder every season to get a strong side in the top.
I had high hopes under Bielsa that his foundations would have been deeper but this season has left those hopes in tatters.
I had hoped that even if he had left at the end of this season he could have been a friendly face around the club from time to time
In any case it is 30 years since that blessed time when that lot from the other side of the pennines blew up and Wilkos boys rode all the luck that was going to take the League title.
Lovely memories

The Square Ball Podcasters have been reliving the season game by game.
Brilliant memories ! Well worth a listen.
Jeez I forgot West Ham were already relegated when they beat Manure in the run in.

Re: 30 years
Not a chance. Unless we sold out to sportswashing (which I hope not). But even then Newcastle will find out for themselves how hard it will be to compete, even spending a £1bn won't put them on a par with Citeh and Liverpool imo.

I remember that title , thinking how long it had been since 73/74.........18 years , I was 12 when Review's side won that title and as years went in I never thought I would see it again , then along came Wilko.......now like said it's 30 years on and the game has changed do much . Leeds would probably need billions to compete with the top sides now , it's not happening under Radz and probably not under the 49ers so in probability we have to look at a cup run.....and right now we aren't even sure where Leeds will be next season.mI think also a decent director of football would be required and not a muppett !

Re: 30 years
In theory it's possible, after all Leicester did it.
But it would take the perfect storm of a very good season from us and a poor season from the likes of Man City and Liverpool who are the two standout teams at the moment.
I doubt that we could buy our way to success so we'd need a bit of luck with in-coming transfers and locally developed players just hitting the perfect combination and very few injuries over the season.

Un Marcelo Bielsa, solo hay un Marcelo Bielsa. Gracias Marcello. Marsching on together.
