Honestly shocking. It was such an 'important' record at the time. I've still got my dogeared vinyl copy. Never listen to it though. I'm saturated as far as The Wall is concerned. And some tracks like Comfortably Numb I find aggressively irritating now. That said, I still stop and listen whenever I hear Vera or Nobody Home.

I'd forgotten 'The Wall' was released in 1979, that is probably my favourite.

Completely forgot that the album which adorns my T shirt today is also from 1979........Great though it is, I'm still sticking with The Ruts, however.

I know what you mean... I still like bits of it, but it's probably been over twenty years since I listened to the whole album.

However, I was thirteen when it came out, and it had a huge influence on me at the time. The brick part 2 solo is what inspired me to play electric guitar, and the themes of alienation and defiance set the tone for my teens like nothing else.

It all seems like histrionics now, but as an impressionable thirteen year old, it was the dog's.

Always found it to be a very uneven album. Has some truly transcendent moments, but it always seemed very self-indulgent on Roger Waters' part.

Animals, I think, was their last truly great album start to finish.

Yes, agreed, John. Possibly reflective of the divisions between Waters and the others. I think Gilmour said he saw WYWH as the last album where the lyrics and the music were given equal weight.
