Salah saying taking that second penalty was like being back in the Champions League final. We really made them work for that.

great commentJohn in Louisiana wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 6:30 pm Won't say anything bad about anyone in this game; not our side, not Liverpool, and not the referee. All performed admirably, in my opinion.
Liverpool had better watch out when they come to ER, especially if we can have our fans back.

Thanks for that.

do you have a video that shows it took a deflection?
was it off his own body?! interesting, still think its a pen as his arm is out so far
i take the bit back about there being no rule about the deflection! it gives some leeway but heck can't have your arm out like that, down at his side and its not a pen

Exactly. Carry your arm out wide like that and they will call it on you every time.danhirons wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 6:33 pm according to the letters of the law it is - there's no rule about it taking a deflection or how fast the ball comes at him. his arm was in an unnatural position and blocked the ball...you can't be having your arm up there it gives you an unfair advantage - you can't raise your arm! both were penalties (first is unfortunate, second clear as day)
It's a damned shame.
How many other teams go to Anfield and take the game to them like we did today? City, maybe, but certainly nobody outside the top six.
We played our game and nearly beat last year's runaway winner. Bielsa's game is going to work this year. We belong in this league.

It definitely deflected off his own leg
But with his arm stuck out like that, who knows what the ruling should be.
Un Marcelo Bielsa, solo hay un Marcelo Bielsa. Gracias Marcello. Marsching on together.

No pen for the first, second was a dive but a legal one and was a pen.

at the end of the day was a good performance

Said I would be happy as long as we didn't get shown up and the lads gave it their all and can be proud of themselves, cant help been a bit disappointed now though. Think we were a bit over excited and you cant blame them, plus a very thrown together centre back pairing didn't help. Koch looked pretty decent I thought for his first game was unlucky with the penalty.

It is ridiculous, no one can move or think that fast to pull his arm in when a shot is taken that close... rule is making it impossible for defenders as they will have to play in the box with arms straight down by their sides!!!!!...again impossible... proximity has to be taken into account, and common sense!... same as the penalty rules goalkeeper not supposed to move until the ball is kicked?struck... technically it is impossible to save a penalty unless he doesn't move and the ball shot straight at him,

I can't believe I'm gutted that we didnt get something at Anfield.
Proud of the lads, they had a real go and we scored two excellent goals, the finish fro m Klich was sublime.
At least all the games won't be that hard.

Great effort against current champs... Not sure about the playing out from the back. We lost slot of possession doing that. Midfield at times were out played. Defence were shown to be lacking. Attacking I think everyone can see that we are a force to be reckoned with.
Re: Liverpool v Leeds United - MATCH THREAD - Cooper out, Struijk starts
Good performance, can't say I'm 'proud' that we lost, more dissappointed not to have got something from it. Some naive play at times, but that's going to happen first game back and against Liverpool. Definitely a good few lessons to be learnt, and hopefully we can bring a few signings, then we should be fine.
Re: Liverpool v Leeds United - MATCH THREAD - Cooper out, Struijk starts
We didn't concede from open play and all our goals were from open play.
