All I saw was a player who got the club, loved the fans, the fans loved him, showed passion and turned down big money to stay here. I think it's shameful that they're trying to get us to turn on him. But I for one won't. I know who is to blame and I'm gutted it's ended like this for Pontus.
I don't think anyone wants him gone, you or no one on here or any other forum knows what's gone on. I do believe though if it came out and proved he was a bad egg in the dressing room, you'd still find a way of blaming Radz for it. The club haven't said the things you state they have, only people on forums saying they have, but because of your hatred you choose to believe they have.

Did MB say he was the best player?

This may be Pontus vs Marcelo, no matter who the architect is, and despite my liking for Pontus I'd take Marcelo.
We have unfinished business with him and his possible successor Corberan.

PJ goes and we end up 10th at Xmas and Brentford are above us it definitely will happen.

Not saying that will happen but this is a "stick" as you say that the club would get beaten with (unless more quality arrives)

Did MB say he was the best player?

"What we see about Jansson is his physical strength. He has a big capacity to express his presence in the game and for Berardi he has an explosivity [sic] which is not frequent for a centre back.

"Jansson has been our best player in the Championship over the season and Berardi has been an indispensable player.

Pre Playoff 2nd leg and it was rare for MB to single out individual players for praise and criticism tbf.

With or without PJ if we are 10th at Xmas plenty of the fans would turn.

The manager however has to have total control of the playing side of things. Too many clubs have players who are bigger than the manager, just look at Pogba at MU as an example. Players know that if they don't perform then in a few weeks the manager will be sacked and a new manager will come in. Ferguson at Man U ruled the club, it didn't matter if you were Paul Ince, David Beckham, Ruud Van Nistelrooy etc if he decided your time was up you were gone and he continued to make the team stronger. It didn't matter how good the player was Ferguson would drop them when he chose to no matter how important the match.

Last season in the 4 matches that Berardi and Cooper played together (Stoke, Derby, Rotherham and Middlesborough) we only conceded 2 goals. One was a penalty (foul from Douglas) and one a free kick. So we actually conceded 0 goals from open play. Notably the Middlesborough game was our 6th of the season and saw Berardi and Cooper reunited after injuries had stopped them playing in matches 4 and 5 - which despite PJ playing well (alongside Berardi) v Norwich (we kept a clean sheet) saw Bielsa recall Cooper at the expense of PJ. It clearly shows that even a month into the season, and 22 days after the transfer window had closed that Bielsa saw Berardi and Cooper as his first choice pairing and but for Berardi's injury PJ would have likely remained as our 3rd choice centreback.

People can come up with all the guff you want and conspiracy theories but the simple truth is that MB doesn't see PJ as a starting centreback no matter how anyone else sees him. With the signing of White it may be that PJ was now 4th choice so why keep him as clearly he'd be unhappy. Cash in on him and move on.

He’s going because Bielsa and him obviously don’t work well together, understandable but a kick in the teeth as he is the best CB in the league. What I don’t get is how is it only 5m? There has to be a player swap involved, no way is he worth less than 10m

Don't think Bielsa likes the Pontus Jansson show making forward runs with s**t passing etc. Jansson is a good player but buckles when against a big striker. Berardi despite being the size of a Screwfix pencil shows more fight and battle in him and seems to bully strikers. he is a good passer of the ball. My only issue with Gaetano is his fuse is shorter than a block of Semtex.

Agree 100%.
The Aston Villa incident when he showed his annoyance with MBs decision was the clincher.

I suspected at the time that incident was the end of Jansson's career at ER

Should Pontus go to Griffin Park little old Brentford will have spent £15m this summer mainly bolstering up their defence a area where they were weak, two CB,s DM & a keeper.

With their attacking prowess they could be a real force next season

BIELSA- Let Villa score a goal for free, straight from the kick off at the centre spot.
PONTUS- Feck that for an idea

Did Pontus get a chance to play in the playoffs after that? No chance. You don't cross Bielsa... end of story.

Anyone else worried there is some kind of fire sale going on? First pontus then we have Philips interest and can see him going if villa offer close to 20 million and he refuses the contract offer and now roofe is linked with rangers for what some sources say we would accept 5 million, this may be rubbish but he doesn't have long left on his contract and we may choose to cash in.

It looked like we would go in to this season with a very similar team to last year but now it's looking possible we could have a very different 11.

They would have been in playoffs if their away form was half decent. Real dark horses next season.

There is clearly an issue and if that's the case he needs to go. You don't want bad apples in the dressing room. It's a shame, obviously, as he's an excellent player on his day and has a great connection with the crowd (when things suit).

The low fee and the fact that there is only solid interest from one club says a lot to be honest - it must be a well known character flaw. It will definitely be Brentford's gain, though I'll be interested to see if he plays as well in a team where defensive discipline isn't as good.

Hi Genghers,

I just dont see the hurry. How do we know there isny any other interest? I would reckon that if Leeds waited a few weeks they could be rewarded with a few more bids.
