o/t England v India test series
First morning of the first test, overcast conditions and India have put England in to bat.
I think I heard that if England win the test series 2-0 or 3-1 (or better of course), England goes to no.1 in the world.
I take it that it's a 5-test series.

Listening to Blofield, Tuffters, Vaughan, etc whilst i work
Steady start, England must be happy to go into lunch with just one wicket down & 43 runs on the board

Unusually patient innings by Pietersen but he's started throwing in a few of his stupid reverse shots since tea in an attempt to throw his wicket.
Re: o/t England v India test series
England 221 all out thanks to a good partnership by Broad & Swann
India - 7 for 1

Re: o/t England v India test series
Bizarre run out of Bell, last ball before tea.
Morgan played the ball square towards the boundary, fielder dived and stopped it (just), then he rolled over the boundary. He got up, wasn't sure at first where the ball was then strolled to it and threw it casually back in. Morgan and Bell had run 3, and Bell assumed it had gone over the boundary for 4, so he strolled off for tea.
The ball hadn't gone dead however, Dhoni (who had caught the ball when it was thrown in) tossed it to Kumar who took the bails off.
Much confusion - was it 4? No
Had the umpire called "over"? Bell claimed so, and the umpire had already given the bowler his jumper back.
Long replays then to see whether the ball went over the ropes, and then to see which, if either, batsman was out.
General consensus is that Bell was dozy, but that India appealing for a wicket was against the spirit, if not the laws of the game.
So that's 254-4 at tea. Bell out for 139, Pietersen for 63. Morgan 21 not out.

Stranger and stranger - during the tea interval India have withdrawn their appeal, so Bell is back in.
Good sportsmanship there.

India have been set a big target thanks to our tail-enders again
Yorkshire's Bresman with a great 90 runs & another fine knock from Broad
We have plenty of runs from the 7th man downwards in Prior, Broad, Bresman & Swann
Exciting stuff !

Surprised we didn't declare the second Bresnan was walking. Could haunt Strauss that.1964white wrote:http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/9553584.stm

55 for 4 with only Tendulkar getting any runs so far.Dr.Leeds wrote:

Was surprised we even bothered letting Swann go out to bat though.
