oh well we will play 532 and win the league. Absolute (well it rhymes with the name of the street where the stadium is). Formation had less to do with it than the team being up for it, the desire. You could see from the first minute that the team was well and truly up for it. You could play with an extra man but if you aren't fully up for it you won't win.
Have you ever actually played 11 aside football?
I love leeds united, may I never admit to it. :shhh:

Edit again

Ok

Nothing to do with formation, tactics, style, just pashun and effort .

We signed players for this style not possession football, it's just a fact and not a coincidence our best performances have been when we've moved far away from FarkeBall.

I Hope this is a permanent change.

Obviously impossible to say either way but I honestly can’t see tonight’s result happening had Farke gone with his usual approach. No one is suggesting we now win the league with that formation but it’s given teams something to think about when planning to play us now - maybe the team were so up for it because they believed in how they had been sent out to play the game.

I agree with you. We do not have the players at this level to play Farke’s preferred system and possession based tactic’s consistently.

Three at the back and Wing backs certainly makes us look far better defensively on what we have seen so far. Whatever tweaks he makes going forwards that base is for me what we need defensively and playing more direct.

On reflection, Cresswell could have fitted that system.
Himself and Bijol have a lot of similarities.

Can't see us signing Bijol of we were a Championship team. ;-)

It was a good read, hopefully people now see Farke for the tactical genius he’s always been. 😁

Great it's worked for three halves Cjay.

But we're playing against top players and coaches at this level and it won't be long until we get sussed out.

So, when the opposition negate our current strategy what will our Daniel come up with?

It took Pep 30 seconds on the touchline to work it out during that break for the horrific injury to Donnarumma, I feared he’d never play again. DF got it spot on v Chelsea with his set up and substitutions so more of that please Danny.

Hopefully he can continue our winning streak 😀🤞

I really don't wanna go back down to the shitty Championship.

No better time to play Liverpool.

He should call Jesse Marsch for some tips :)

Think everyone should remember that we equalised after the Pep talk.

Anyway at least we're all now agreed Farke can stay a bit a longer :)

Hopefully all the tactical geniuses who wanted 3 at the back have now realised there is far more to playing that formation than just picking the team. Against City and it was abundantly clear how much work Farke had put into it and that was then improved upon against Chelsea where the players positioning and pressing was outstanding.

Oh look there's Struijk one of our back 3 pressing on the edge of the Chelsea box whilst we were leading 2-1 and leads to DCL scoring.

How many who wanted to play 3 at the back would have done that ?

Probably none so please show Farke the respect he deserves :)

Fair play

But how about some acknowledgement that those who said his ultra cautious, safety first ploddyball wasn't playing to the strengths of the squad (as well as suggesting a back 3).

It wasn't a tactical masterclass it was finally a recognition with his job on the line he had to play to our strengths not his ego.

By his own admission it isn't "his way" and even against Man City his first instinct was to play his way first half, if his job wasn't serious under threat it's highly likely he never makes that switch imo.

A roll of the dice from a man who knew unemployment beckoned.

Deserves credit for finally doing it but it makes the wasted games (Burnley, Forest, Brighton etc) where he stubbornly stuck to his ideas more frustrating

Hopefully finally an epiphany

( if he goes back to 4-3-3 ploddyball he should be shot)

Interesting because that's Bielsa man marking and doesn't usually do thay either.
