DDB220 wrote: Thu Jun 12, 2025 11:24 am The main thing about selling Joseph that concerns me is that his progress has parallel’s with Gyokeres when Brighton off loaded him. I am not suggesting he will go on to be at that level but there are similarities.

We never seem to be in a position to loan out the talent with the highest ceiling to get the right experience at the right club. We lurch from one minimalist 1st team squad issue to another.

Why we are not loaning out Joseph to a Spanish team rather than selling him is madness. This to me suggests the massive war chest quoted is simply not the reality. 1st team is the priority and we have a number of legacy players that we will struggle to shift and they are some of the highest earners.

We had massive incoming capital last summer, which I believe was the largest amount of incoming transfer money received by any club in Europe. But seems like we still need to get money in and players out to facilitate incoming transfers.

Joseph for me has promised a lot, but delivered very little. Other than that Cup match at Chelsea he hasn't looked like an EPL striker. We would be keeping him based upon potential, but he would struggle to touch grass ahead of Piroe and whichever new striker we recruit.

We all expected that Joe Gelhardt would be successful here, but he's another whose never been able to hold down a first team place.

We need a striker to come in and score and assist goals right now, otherwise we're looking at going back to the Championship. If Joseph wants to go back to Spain then sell him and good luck to him.

Would be poor work from the Niners to sell a quality striker for that cheap

Bijol is a right sided CB or DMF, who's he replacing I wonder.. Rodon or Amps?
It's not as convenient as putting things down on paper and saying, who does he replace.

You need a squad of players. Players will be injured and they need to be competing for starts. We need 3 center backs that are good enough to start in the premier league. We need more than 2 midfielders that are good enough to start in the premier league.

Also, the right foot left foot thing is handy at the back, but it's not a mandate. How many games did Ampadu play at LCB last season?

For center backs, I want to have Rodon, Strujik, and a player like this Bijol. And then even a youngster (better than Debayo) or veteran (like Guilavogui) as a 4th choice

In midfield, we need Ampadu, Tanaka, plus 2 (possibly Gruev)

Well Forshaw is probably still available  and he does know his way around the physio room, and would be great company for Patrick He Can Still Do A Job From The Bench For Us Bamford

I hear what your'e saying but Joseph is ahead of Gelhartd for me anyway and has more potential, I think the weight of expectation was just too much for him and we altered the system.
Losing England U21 international Cresswell was a kick in the teeth, I don't want to lose another star in the making.
A bigger squad is what we need not flogging our best youngsters.

They are paying for what they are getting and not what may or not Joseph may become
Fair to me for a guy who became an unused sub in the championship

I'm a bit miffed as to why we wouldn't have the money to spend in the current window (ending June 30th). We supposedly had money to spend on a number 10 last August, and again were looking at potential buys in January. That would assume the money we didn't spend then is still available.

Losses/profits are counted over a 3 year period though. So if we don't spend money that's available now, we can still spend it in the next window,

Maybe players don't fancy coming to teams newly promoted as theyr'e afraid of being relegated in their first season, hence why we haven't signed anybody yet, or are we keeping a lid on things till the deals are done ?

He's not, it's true. We are good at wasting talent and flair while giving the ordinary and poor the plaudits and playing time.. Had Piroe got injured and Joseph got the start, we still go up imo and Mateo probably bags a few. Once dropped he didn't get anpother chance though.
