Wouldn't necessarily disagree but promoted sided might be better trying different tactics as going up and trying to play the progressive football that's now in vogue rarely seems to works.

Re: Burnley v Leeds Utd Match Thread
We were only tean who tried to win the game, our forwards lacked the guile in the final third apart the James shot, a volley which was a difficult effort. Our RB Bogle did his best making runs into their defensive zone.
As for our other forwards...
Soloman was obviously earmarked, being doubly marked, showing none of his PL class to break down the Burnley wall.
Piroe was woeful with the ball flying off his boot like a balloon.
Joseph was like a headless chicken.
The rest of our team were prepared to play the ball backwards & sideways wasting time & basically playing for a draw

Piroe - One goal in our last six matches.
Joseph - One goal in 584 minutes.

Still, only lost three of our twenty-nine games.

Re: Burnley v Leeds Utd Match Thread
I have just seen a team in the promotion race playing at home and pretty much park the bus - I can't remember them having one shot on or off target. Their last three home games were 0-0 draws !!!
Piroe had two decent half chances in the first half both of which required a first time shot from about ten yards. On both occasions he chose to take a touch and lost possession - this is not what we need from a striker.

Piroe won't be good enough for the PL, too slow, laboured & easily knocked off the ball for a big man, not proactive enough too.Tom the Cat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 10:03 am I have just seen a team in the promotion race playing at home and pretty much park the bus - I can't remember them having one shot on or off target. Re: Burnley v Leeds Utd Match Thread
I have no issue with Firpo playing LB because he is a good weapon on the left side. However, I do not believe he is a great fit with Solomon, who is not particularly great at tracking back.
Having two players on the left side who want to get forward and are not great defensively would have provided Anthony with a lot of grass. Byram was for the most part playing quite deep because of the threat. Burnley distribute the ball down the sides, they rarely play through the middle. We set up not to lose with the hope of nicking a goal. Almost paid off, but they are a hard nut to crack defensively.

The most Leeds result would have been to lose it, ala Bielsa's side losing to Norwich and Sheff U or to Derby in the play-offs. This for me shows that Farke got it right as he greatly limited our chance of losing whilst also giving us a chance of winning.FeelsLikeThunder wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 12:34 am Unfortunately the most Leeds result ever, haha... Still can't help but feel like we had a real chance to start pulling away, though. We move on to the next one MOT.

I love leeds united, may I never admit to it.

Re: Burnley v Leeds Utd Match Thread
It is a nice touch and showed how much value Farke holds in having good team spirit and the right characters. Both of those players could have had a grudge against Farke given their lack of playing time but clealry that is not the case.

I still have no clue why Roberts was left on the bench last season as Gray would have lifted the midfield going forward instead of Kamara.. Would have given us a true wing back too..

Shows how poor they seem to be at trying to break teams down - but if they play the same way as they did v us, and wait for the opposition to over commit it is hardly a surprise.

Burnley lack a cutting edge, the amount of goals scored is likely to be a record low for a team going up if they do, but one of the best defences historically at this level. They're playing to their strengths ...

Great point for us
Once Sheffield lost and Sunderland drew, as Warnock alluded to, this was always only going to be one result. “
Taken from that forum. Amazing what biased fans see that doesn’t exist.
Re: Burnley v Leeds Utd Match Thread
I think Farke was slowly integrating him into the team and he was getting more minutes, and indeed started a game prior to the injury when playing for Wales. It did seem to be that the go to sub was to bring Roberts on and switch Gray to midfield. Maybe he wanted Gray as the starter to give the balance of not being too attack minded from our fullbacks (as Firpo was given license to almost play as a false 10). Maybe having Roberts and Firpo would have left us to prone to counter attacks but when Roberts was being brought on it was when we were prepared to gamble. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 11:47 am I still have no clue why Roberts was left on the bench last season as Gray would have lifted the midfield going forward instead of Kamara.. Re: Burnley v Leeds Utd Match Thread
We need a left back, a creative central player, 1 or 2 wide men and a striker. It's not going to happen but they are all clear weaknesses in this team.Jaydog wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 11:55 am “Yes, Leeds stifling defensive tactics made for a poor game.

We have been bailed out all season by the centre backs being an absolute revelation and it's seriously papering over the cracks
Burnley fan talking seems like he wantd to replace half the team... sounds as unrealistic as many people on here.
