Back then he'd come on for a cameo and give away cheap fouls plus look a little lost as he clearly wasn't relaxed or mature enough as a player. Now the slow and gentle nuturing from Farke and his coaches is paying off as we're starting to see a potentially top striker emerge.

Also really good work by our management team to persuade him to sign a new 4 year new contract last Janaury before he'd really come to everyone's full attention. I'd imagine that a large part of those negotiations were assuring him that his time was coming and that hard work would be rewarded.
just need him to start getting a few goals and we'll have a great player on our books

It’s early days, but I get the feeling if we don’t go up this season he’s not long at this club.

Another great knock today, no idea why he was subbed like, bamfraud got all the minutes possible thrown at him.
Joseph led the line well, held the ball up well, has a good turn of pace and will score a lot.
Shame we didn't entrust him last season.

I'm sure that goal will give Mateo plenty of confidence to score more goals this season, his hold-up & general play is improving with every game, I loved the way he tracked back 50 yards to help out his defence deep into the second-half.

Joseph ritual just before kick-off is stood pumping out his chest towards the fans in the kop.

I am soooooo glad we didn't send him out on loan, what an absolute disaster that would have been, thankfully he stayed put and fought well and hard for his chance.

Think Farke has handled his development perfectly to be honest.

The long winning run from 1st January onwards with Bamford leading the line was all part of Joseph's education and now he not only looks ready but he is ready.

Yep, always comes up to us in the KOP and stands on the penalty spot.

Mateo Joseph has been directly involved in 4 of the last 6 goals Leeds have scored (1G, 3A)

His assist stats are good. As is his all round play. I wonder if/when the goals will become an issue.

Joseph has missed 3 really good chances this season 2 of which have probably cost us points, however it annoys me when pundits, or fans say he's missed a sittter.

For the record a sitter is a virtual open goal when the keeper has next to no chance of making a save.

Every fan should be absolutely delighted that we have such a fantastic young player at the club and get 100% behind him.

I your opinion that is what it means of course.

Others say that a sitter is an easy chance.

All players miss them

Whatever the case Joseph needs to up his return.

Mateo Joseph Ruthless Striker or Team Player?

Post by Musicman1965 »

7 games into the Championship season and Mateo Joseph our number 9 and our lethal striker is sitting on 1 goal out of 7.
Now is this Mateos fault or is it the style of play that brings other players into better position to score. If we look at the Coventry game there is no doubt that Mateo gave the opportunity to other players by drawing defenders away. What do think?

1 goal & 4 assists, I believe.

Team player, works his socks off & we have no alternative who could perform as well as Mateo in the No.9 position.

I think the concern is the decent chances that he has missed and the lack of composure he has shown. Reminds me of a sh*t Ollie Watkins and that is saying something as Ollie Watkins is a sh*t Ollie Watkins.
Can any of you ba****d c*nts sell me a sh*t castle in need of f*cking renovation? I have turrets.

One of our best players so far this season, one of the first names on the team sheet, though, there really isn't much behind him as Paddy isn't fit and in fade and Piroe ain't a loan striker...
