That clip of him, doing the rounds, of him giving the finger to the Hammers fans calling him useless isn’t going to do him any favours either.Cjay wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2024 3:17 pm Personally thought he looks slow in mind and body.
Which in his position is a very bad characteristic.

Wet Spam fans not impressed
Not sure where he goes at the end of the season to be honest.

Re: Kalvin Phillips
McDonald’s ! Couldn’t fault him for the City move, don’t think there’s many out there who wouldn’t have taken the chance. Pep ruined him & his confidence, would love to see him going to a club with a manager who could get him back to his best. Don’t think there’s a place for him at Leeds but I reckon DF could work with him given the chance.Barlow Boy wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2024 10:20 pm That clip of him, doing the rounds, of him giving the finger to the Hammers fans calling him useless isn’t going to do him any favours either.

It rarely works out, players going back to previous clubs, he could be one of the exceptions.

The way it is going for Kalvin he must have run over a robin on his drive down to The Smoke.
Never a penalty, likewise for Burnley, I'm so glad we don't have VAR in the Champo, it is shockingly incompetent. Doesn't help KP's cause though.

Because they normally return when they're past it. Think he may have played his last football this seasonBarlow Boy wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 12:14 am It rarely works out, players going back to previous clubs, he could be one of the exceptions.

Re: Kalvin Phillips
The kind of run he'd had since leaving Leeds United, putting aside his motivation and decision making since he is where he is because it is of his own making, you have to wonder if he might decide to jack it all in and do something else with his life. Not many options for him it seems to me - depends on how hungry he isThe Subhuman wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 11:33 am Because they normally return when they're past it. Maybe he just isn't that good?Barlow Boy wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2024 10:20 pm That clip of him, doing the rounds, of him giving the finger to the Hammers fans calling him useless isn’t going to do him any favours either.
Not sure where he goes at the end of the season to be honest.
He was a pretty average Championship midfielder.
Bielsa came in, made him super fit and gave him a highly regimented and choreographed role.
KP shone in this system for a few years.
Take him away from it without the supreme fitness and almost robotic coaching and he reverts to type?
Wouldn't be the first player who looked a world beater for a few years for a certain manager but faded when out of it.
The England vote he won was a public vote hijacked by Leeds fans.
Was he really the best player for England that year? Probably not

Re: Kalvin Phillips
We really think that highly of ourselves? We've lost Leeds fans "hijacked polls a lot of times before that so Kalvin (who was better than Rice for England for that period) won it fair and square. You don't think Manure/City/Liverpool have fans that vote multiple times in polls?Cjay wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 1:11 pm Maybe he just isn't that good?

Kalvin is a top class DMF/Sweeper, who was left to rust by City and who didn't want him for that position anyway. He's now suffering from lack of game time and more importantly confidence, plus Moyes doesn't have the ability or imagination to integrate him. I think footballers are people not machines, they suffer from the same doubts/fears we all do and it will always affect performance
As I say he needs to come home, take a pay cut and re-establish himself. If both players are at peak I don't think Ampadu is quite as good as Kalvin.... and boy could we do with the old KP now with nothing at DMF...

I'm sure plenty of teams fans do it, but Man City, Liverpool fans will have multiple players to vote for.The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 1:45 pm We really think that highly of ourselves? We had 1.
You only had to look at the reaction when it was announced, pretty clear it was heavily Leeds fan influenced.
Not convinced he is that good myself tbh, appreciate what he did for us but being decent in 1 system for 1 manager is a Red flag.
Besides all that as explained before I simply don't see it being a sensible deal for us to do.
He'd have to take a massive wage cut, more than 50%
Man City would then need to do the same with his £40mil price tag from January.
Can't see it, and if we did the deal at anything like those prices without a cut then has all the hallmarks of a sentimental overpay and disaster waiting to happen.

Re: Kalvin Phillips
Pretty sure we also hi-jacked a game where an ex player of ours was playing and he won motm, maybe was Ben White when he was back at Birghton, and also some of the foreign matches to vote for Alioski etc,Cjay wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 2:01 pm I'm sure plenty of teams fans do it, but Man City, Liverpool fans will have multiple players to vote for.
