Can’t be going there surely after they spent a fortune in Declan Rice :duno:

I hope he goes and Arteta knows how to use him better than Pep, which i now feel he would.

Needs to have a look at some David Batty videos does Kalvin. Oiled the wheels very nicely and effectively in that Leeds midfield and a perfect foil for Gary Mac, Strachan and Speed. At the moment he is too happy playing little 10 yard, non progressive passes sideways. Pass completion and accuracy will look decent but any team with designs on winning the League will be requiring a lot more than is currently in evidence and his window of opportunity is rapidly closing if, in fact, it ain't shut already. Pep did not look at all happy after the defeat by Wolves.

I don't think Man City will sell Phillips to Arsenal, makes no sense to take the risk of Phillips playing a blinder for the Gunners and Pep might be a bit embarrassed at failing to unlock his talent. He has to move to get his playing career back on track, he has plenty of money, his current team is doing well and he picks up medals for really not making all that much of contribution. Tough choices ahead, may have to take a pay cut to get game time at another club..

He's too static for a midfielder, needs to get much more mobile to make any effect on a game, at city he simply won't flourish, pep has got what he can out of him for their system, bielsa altered our total way of play to fit him in.
Maybe be better off at villa.
Or everton

I wouldn't wish any player to Neverton TBH. It's surprising that they have been able to / allowed to continue with the smoke and mirrors type of financial book-keeping they are employing. Surely there will come a point where it all catches up with them?

Rodri was back for this game so there was no chance KP would get a look in. But yeah the writing is on the wall and has been for ages. Kalvin is not a good fit for the way Pep organises Citeh to play and is way down the pecking order. When Stones is back available then he will drop further back. He seems strangely content to stay put and waste his talent

Beggers belief how you can play zero minutes for your club team over 18 months but still get picked by Southgate, tells you a lot about jobs for mates

Archie Gray is outplaying Kalvin atm

The Yorkshire Pirlo is the late Ray Wilkins in disguise isn't he?

Wilkins clocked up 84 England caps and scored 3 goals. My recollection is that he also spent a lot of his time playing the ball sideways, back and across the park

What a waste at only 27, I could maybe understand it if he was 32/33 & thinking about his family’s future but he has a long way to go to retirement yet. He’ll probably be more convinced he’s doing the right thing after being picked by Southgate which is insanity & practically leaves England a match fit player down. He needs to get some self respect back, stick his City medals where the sun don’t shine & move somewhere in January that he’ll get playing regularly.

Don't get me wrong, I really rate Kalvin but his career is being ruined by City. They're treating him like a 17/18 year old kid. He needs to get sold in Jan or at least go out on loan or it's two years wasted... He can't have played much more than Stuart Dallas and Dallas has had a broken leg...

I like the lad but if Kalvin was loaned back to Leeds he would still be on the bench at the moment.

We don't have a player like Kalvin here so for me he would be an asset. Not that I'm advocating we loan him back or that we could even afford him

That is a big IF but for me he would do great for us if he can just remember that he has a long pass in him. He wasn't called the Yorkshire Pirlo for nothing. Also, for all the clean sheets we have been having, the defence is still fragile when attacked so having a proper DM in front of the two Centre Halfs would be a great bonus and allow the full backs a bit more licence to bomb forward. At the moment Byram does OK at LB but we are short at RB where Ayling is struggling to keep up. On that basis he would get in the team as opposed to sitting on the bench. We need to reduce the exposure that young Gray is getting.

Pep already said KP had the opportunity to leave on loan but decided to stay.

He has chosen to be a glorified cheerleader in exchange for obscene wealth and trophies he played no part in.

Up to him but what a waste.

Shouldn't be anywhere near the England squad but Southgate is part of that old boys club and KP is now.
