Luke's legs aren't getting any younger, especially as this championship season will drag on. Great to have Jamie as a back up for the spot as needed. Feels like there's not as big a drop off if he spells Luke or Djed.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2023 9:55 pm I actually think he might be a better RB than Ayling now. Good pace to get back. Creative drive going forward.

Re: Jamie Shackleton
It's very early to say after one and a half good games, but is he our best Left Back?
Looking more like a full back or wing back than a midfielder, but capable anywhere. I'd like to see him have a few more good games before this, but I'd be looking to extend his contract pretty soon if this form is consistent.

Re: Jamie Shackleton
We should be offering one anyway, to protect his value. We'd get nothing if he leaves, as he'd be 24 in October, so over the age limit for compensation.Scott wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 2:56 am It's very early to say after one and a half good games, but is he our best Left Back?

Re: Jamie Shackleton
From YEP journalist Graham Smythe on the Inside Elland Road podcast:
“In terms of the players Leeds had, all 40 of them that we looked at, Shackleton was an easy one because while the club sounded him out about whether or not he would maybe like to go this summer, the position from Shackleton was always, ‘no thanks very much, I’m going to stay, I know that I train really well, I know I can impress coming back by being fitter than anyone else in pre-season, then I am going to hope to play my way back into Farke’s plans’.”
That's a more than refreshing player approach--love to see his attitude and had work in training paying off. Also, great that he's been able to capitalize on the opportunities injuries have presented and make the most of his actual game time with really strong performances. I know he's a squad player at best when everyone is healthy, but it's great to know he can be our lil' Dallas.

Re: Jamie Shackleton
Not that it' s needed, as he seems to leave it all on the pitch each match, and has been one of the most consistent players thus far this season (no small feat as he's done so in at least three different positions) but Shackleton's fanboy crush for Byram makes me want Jamie to be that much more successful. It refreshing to see a player's genuine love of lacing up his boots and doing so for Leeds...MOT.
From the official Leeds United podcast:
“When I was in the academy, Sam Byram. When he came back, I was buzzing. Oh my god. I used to watch him every week when I was ball-boying. Used to chuck him the ball, he won’t remember me."
"Yeah he’s good [he’s taken me under his wing]. Honestly I’m buzzing we’re teammates now – it seems nuts to me. When I was 11, 12, I was on the sidelines idolising him. He did everything I wanted to do.”

Injured shoulder in training.
Too painful to be involved.
No idea yet for BC
