They did ban our young player, Jordan Stevens I think it was? His offences were nowhere near the amount that is being spoken about here. He couldn't even contact any other player, how is that fair?mentalcase wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 8:27 pm Yea, I know where your'e coming from, but if that were a United player he would have been guilty when it first came outand not been able to play till after the hearing, they could deduct brentford all the points amassed when IT scored this season, they'd be in the mire themselves then.
Also, his goals are the main reason they're that far up the table.

I felt really sorry for the lad as he got an immediate ban too. Very harsh and no duty of care for someone of his age either.mentalcase wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 7:15 pm Totally forgot about him Heidi, and he wasn't high profile, goes to show eh !!

It's everything wrong about football. Of course fans should care. NUFC and Man City fans don't, because for some the possibility of a title or even a league cup medal trumps concerns about beheading gay people.

Re: Newcastle United Thread
He did and it makes a complete mockery of the Toney case. Stevens was hardly likely to be privy to who was going to be selected for our first team (barring being told the exact same information that Bielsa told all and sundry at the press conferences anyway) and also unlikely to have mates at other clubs that were likely to be first team regulars etc and be privy to sensitive information. Stevens just seemed to be just a bored teenager with a decent amount of pocket money having a few bets on football but just betting like any fan would rather than having inside information.
Re: Newcastle United Thread
Of course they did, they only cared about the state sanctioned piracy. The week that was sorted, the takeover happened. Never was about separation, or concerns over human rights abuses, or anything else.WhiteRose wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 1:34 pm Situation at Newcastle is laughable and entirely predictable - so obvious the takeover was completely tied to the Saudi state and the PL deliberately ignored it.
Qataris now coming in to the prem aswell and the same situation will happen again.
Trouble with football is that other than the fans no one really cares about it. Those organisations who are supposed to are staffed with people more bothered about money and lining their own pockets than the game As we know it. These owners/countries want to build networks of clubs all over the world - FIFA, UEFA, EPL etc are happy to facilitate it even though it strips the soul from the game and risks handing the real power to those with questionable motivations
As an aside, there's a news report about how angry the other clubs are. Of course they're angry, they want Newcastle back in the weeds. They'd react the same way if this had happened with Wolves (as would a non-Saudi owned Newcastle). Nobody is in favour of another rich club, why would they be? It's not moral outrage, it's entirely self serving.

Of course the haves never wanted Newcastle to become successful, everyone us out for themselves. The Fish wrote: ↑Fri Mar 03, 2023 1:44 pm Of course they did, they only cared about the state sanctioned piracy. And the average Newcastle fan only cares about there club and will give very little consideration to the obvious issues with Saudi Arabia as a country.
Wouldn't be any different at other clubs, a few murmuring but ultimately fans are fickle.
That doesn't alter the fact that whilst we all knew it was as bent as anything and Saudi Government was always running Newcastle right to the very top of the Royal Family that wasn't what we were told publicly by the Premier League.
The Premier League chief told the public and likely the other clubs that they had had legally binding assurances that PIF was not Government ran and crucially that they had the authority to remove PIF should it come out that this isn't the case
That is a matter of public record that from Richard Masters, its undisputed he said that.
And it is highly likely he was told that otherwise if it came out he was making false promises to clubs and the public I imagine the legal ramifications would be devastating for the Premier League.
Despite us all knowing it was nonsense and PIF was definitely ran by the Saudi Government whilst it wasn't able to be proved everyone was covered.
But now the proof is undeniable.
Not idle chat or speculation
Yasir Al-Rumayyan the Newcastle Chairman has told a US Court of Law that they are Government ran as a defence presumably for Diplomatic reasons and admitted he himself is a Government figure.
It couldn't be more black and white.
You have the Chairman of Newcastle telling a Court the total opposite to what the Premier League assured everyone.
It's not even debatable.
What will happen?
Probably nothing
But what should happen is what the Premier League said would happen.
PIF disqualified as owners of Newcastle as the Premier League said will happen if it can be proven PIF are Government ran.
They have the proof in an undisputed way.
How can they do anything else?
Newcastle fans will yell conspiracy understandably.
But it's not
PIF told the Premier league one thing.
The Premier League told there members and the public the same thing
The Chairman of Newcastle told a Court under oath something different
If anything PIF are to blame for telling to many lies

I will be doing once I get my new website up and running. It's taken a back seat the last few weeks but I'd given the lad some more money to get it done and he promised me some instruction videos which have still to materialise. I'll chase him again next week.
Re: Newcastle United Thread
You are right in what you say but as with anything else with the Premier League, it all depends on who you are with the way you are treated. I won't hold my breath in this instance.Cjay wrote: ↑Fri Mar 03, 2023 3:27 pm Of course the haves never wanted Newcastle to become successful, everyone us out for themselves.

Re: Newcastle United Thread
Newcastle will be treated like elite six now, Heidi.
I wish these clubs had gone & plied their trade in some boring European league, then the rest of us could get on with football how it used to be, on a level playing field.
Re: Newcastle United Thread
I'm no lawyer, but I think it's fairly straightforward to prove that there is sufficient separation to satisfy the claims made prior to the takeover and the assertions made re: LIV Golf.Cjay wrote: ↑Fri Mar 03, 2023 3:27 pm Of course the haves never wanted Newcastle to become successful, everyone us out for themselves.

Re: Newcastle United Thread
I'm no lawyer either but
The Newcastle Chairman was described as . . .
“a sitting minister of the Saudi government” on official court documents.
And
“They are a sovereign instrumentality of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a sitting minister of the Saudi government, and they cannot be compelled to provide testimony and documents in a US proceeding unless their conduct – not LIV’s or anyone else’s – is truly the ‘gravamen’ of the case.”
You don't have to be a lawyer to see that they are arguing diplomatic immunity in order to not to be forced to do what they are being asked.
You can only claim diplomatic immunity if you are a foreign government offial and government device
That's international law.
So it's not really up for debate far as I can see

In the passage you quote, they're saying that unless they're specifically the most serious or pertinent part of the accusation they cannot be forced to answer questions. They're using diplomatic immunity to avoid questions unless the charge is against them specifically, right?Cjay wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 12:59 pm I'm no lawyer either but

Masters' quote is;
“That is what we were investigating - whether the Saudi state could control the club through the investment fund. We have received assurances that is not the case.”
That's not to say the parties involved at NUFC are not part of the government, or that the sovereign wealth fund is wholly separate. It's simply that they've received "assurances" that the Saudi state could not control the club through the investment fund. Which is sufficiently vague. They don't need for the Newcastle owners to be disconnected from their government, they just needed them to say "We promise we won't interfere".
It's bullshit, but the language is wooly enough to get around it.
I'm just saying that it's possible, in the tangle that is international law, to dance around the issue.

Isn't just Newcastle
Forest owner wrote off £40mil of debt the other week.
Leicester owner wrote off nearly £200mil owed to them recently.
We are absolute paupers in this league.
Hope the 49ers realise that
