Re: Aston Villa Thread - Emery appointed

Post by Musicman1965 »

Emery is a class manager that will bring the best out of the players at Aston Villa. Strange Emery had turned down other English clubs in the past only to accept the Villa post. Villas reaction to Gerrards departure was instant as they destroyed a very good Brentford side. Makes you think why one minute they struggle to put a pass together or create so little in front of goal, it reminds me of the same problems that Leeds are going through.....

Villa had only scored seven goals in their first ten games.

Seven goals either side of the defeat at Newcastle in their last three games

Great victory for Dick Emery

Marca and A Bola, reliable Spanish and Portuguese sources say Aston Villa are trying to complete an ambitious move for Joao Felix.

It has been confirmed by Atletico Madrid he will be allowed to leave in January.

Time to show us that close relationship you said you had with Jorge Mendes Radz.

UE knows the Spanish league, no surprise he's gonna go back and raid .
Also, big difference from what the manager wants to what the DOF wants.

Means one of our rivals has less games than us, hopefully, it won't matter come May, we'll still be in the PL

Three consecutive away victories at Brighton, Spurs & Southampton has taken Villa to mid-table safety.

Strange.

Employing a successful and proven coach rather than a bloke whose only ever had proper success at a team basically guaranteed to win most of there domestic matches every season makes a difference

Honestly I didn't see this move coming. Duran is a highly thought of young player. He's been on a good trajectory with the Columbian National Team. And it was considered pretty shocking when Chicago were able to acquire him. But a lot of young South American players see MLS as a stepping stone to Europe. And this will only feed into that. His first season in MLS was good but not spectacular. Scored 8 goals for a pretty poor team. I don't expect him to contribute to Villa much this season. Having said that, a Manager like Emery with so much experience in Spain will be aware of the best young talent coming out of South America. And I think he would have had a hand in this signing. So maybe he has a plan for Duran.

Villa are really poor defensively.

We should have punished them had we been more clinical

Hadn't realised Villa were so high

6th!!!!

Never watched Villa and thought they would be that high.

Anywhere from 20th-10th.

Fair play to Unai Emery.

But it probably says more about the weakness outside the top 2 in this league compared to other seasons

A lot of teams who are pretty average

Strange season this
