My god we are really light with quality defenders & strikers
-------------------------------- Ramsdale -----------------------------
Alexander-Arnold ------ White ------ Coady ------ Trippier
Saka ----- Foden --------- Rice --- Bellingham --- Harrison
-------------------------------- Kane -----------------------------------
Everton's Anthony Gordon just misses out
Nowhere near good enough to win a World Cup but it's the best we have imo!

I have two wing-backs that can take free-kicks.

Re: Post ya England team and formation for the WC first game.
Trying to be realistic about this - players likely to start rather than my own complete choice:
Pickford
Trippier - Walker - Dier - Stones - Shaw
Rice - Bellingham
Saka - Kane - Sterling
Reece James, Chilwell, Foden, Mount, Grealish, and Radford most likely to be used from the rest of the squad. Ramsdale would be my 2nd keeper (but who knows since he didn't get used in these latest games)
Personally - would love to see TAA and Ben White involved. Disappointed Toney didn't get a chance to see what he can offer as an impact sub in the firendlies. Would also like to see Kalvin involved but it's looking highly unlikely now.
Do I think that team is good enough? Not on recent form. But you never know in a tournament. We should qualify from the group and hopefully we can get some momentum going from there.

Pickford
TAA/Trippier/James....White....Tomori/Stones....Chilwell
Phillips/Rice
Sancho.....Bellingham.....Mount.....Foden
Kane/Sterling
The alternatives are where i'm not reet arsed who and either/or......but let's have em flying forward with a we'll score more than you attitude, knacker em out and use subs accordingly

At least my team is slightly different especially at the back where we have looked vulverable.1964white wrote: ↑Tue Sep 27, 2022 3:49 pm My god we are really light with quality defenders & strikers

To be fair, Southgate hasn't got a lot to work with. Take all the quality world/european players out of the Premier League & it appears ordinary.

TAA is the best right wing back we've probably ever had in this country

You only have to google taa defending to see how horrendous he is defensively and Southgate prefers to play a solid/tight team defensively.
Saying that, we're really lacking inspiration going forward
Would love to see him as rwb in a 3/5 at the back so he wouldn't be so defensively needed

Re: Post ya England team and formation for the WC first game.
Thats the formation England have been playing. So it makes total sense to play TAA in that formation with slighltly less defensive responsibility. He played Saka at LWB against Italy. And I'm sure that wasn't because he thought Saka was better defensively than Shaw or Chilwell.danhirons wrote: ↑Wed Sep 28, 2022 9:02 pm *attacking

Don't forget, i'm asking for your England team and formation and not what our current numptie will do.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Thu Sep 29, 2022 6:43 am Thats the formation England have been playing. tbf i've lost track of what formation we play now
thought it was settled on 3-5-2
but recently seems to be 3-4-3 or even 4-3-3/4-4-2
big problem is we don't seem to know what our best formation is and we don't have players that fit nicely into one formation - lots of players playing in different positions for their clubs than in the england setup etc.
