Third Round of the FA Cup


Leeds face their first of two consecutive trips to the London Stadium on Sunday to face West Ham in the Third Round of the FA Cup.

Patrick Bamford is rated 50/50 whether he is fit enough to participate on Sunday. The 28yo has recovered from the hamstring injury he sustained during his goal celebration against Brentford a month ago, but faces a race against time to get match fit. Cooper, Phillips, Shackleton, Struijk and Cresswell all remain on the treatment table. Rodrigo is currently being assessed for his heel injury, but is expected to again miss out.

Diego Llorente and Tyler Roberts are permitted to play in the FA Cup. The duo picked up their 5th bookings of the season against Burnley last weekend, and face a one match suspension. Unfortunately, the ban is competition specific; both will miss the league game on the 16th at the London Stadium. Crysencio Summerville, Cody Draheh and Sam Greenwood are all expected to play some sort in Sunday's proceedings, having played just 45 minutes against Sunderland midweek.

Angelo Ogbonna, Aaron Cresswell and Kurt Zouma are all sidelined with injury whilst Said Benrahma is away on international duty with Algeria. Attacking midfielder Pablo Fornals is available for selection. The Spainish International has been given the all clear following Covid, and is expected to start. Aji Alese, Jamal Baptiste, Manny Longelo and Harrison Ashby are all expected to be given game time by Hammer's boss David Moyes.

I reckon Bielsa will go with the majority of the team that featured in the Burnley game.

Looks a good shout for the lineup. Wouldn't mind seeing Bate but I think that will be as a sub, being eased in, if at all.

Not sure whether Bamford will start or not, but I expect him to see a good chunk of minutes. I wonder how Rodrigo's injury is coming along?

Don't know

Had heard he may have picked up an injury in training last Friday, no idea if true or how bad, but starts if fit for me

I fancy Summerville, Greenwood and Drameh to all play a part given they were subbed at half time.

Probably some clumsy tackle as it's a part of the game we are not at all efficient in, hence all the fouls we give away.

We arent winning this with our injuries, we'd struggle with a fully fit squad based on performances this season.

Convinced we are cursed.

Finally Gelhardt has a free pathway to the first 11 and he gets injured . . . .Sigh.

Wouldn't risk Bamford or Raph, keep them safe.

Play whats left of the u23s,take the battering and move on.

Inclined to agree, with Gelhardt's injury I'd definitely consider only giving Bamford 30 minutes or so. Summerville is/was already pencilled in to start over Raph IMO.

I would settle for an honourable defeat here, 1-0 or 2-1 or something similar (that’s what the FA cup has come to) if we can get a point from the league match.

It would be interesting to see what Bate can do, hopefully he will get some game time.
