Please help OUFC try and secure a new stadium and stay in business

Post by Cryforhelp OUFC »

Hi, an Oxford United fan here in peace.

Our club is desperately trying to secure a new stadium site, or we’ll be homeless from 2026 as our existing 3-sided stadium which we rent will no longer be available as the landlord has terminated the lease.

With that in mind, if anyone on here would be happy to fill in a short online questionnaire being run by Oxfordshire County Council, our fans would be massively grateful. We are trying to gain support from fans of fellow EFL clubs all over the country to make the case as strong as we can.

It only takes about five minutes or so to fill in the short online form with positive answers at https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/C8O8VI/ by 23 July 2023.

The benefits to you as away fans will be:
A sustainable stadium right next door to a major railway station in Oxford Parkway (a short train ride from Oxford City Centre) and opposite a large Park&Ride site, which would make it one of the easiest, greenest grounds to get to in the UK.
Proper drinking, food and entertainment options at the ground itself, compared to embarrassing facilities currently on offer at our current ground or nearby.
A modern, well-designed ground which will help to support a proper atmosphere, rather than the soulless, three-side ground we have now.
A few sentences on any of the above for the survey’s final comment box would be really helpful in showing our County Council that the new ground will be sustainable, increase spending in Oxfordshire, and provide excellent facilities for both home AND away fans.

We all appreciate the value of a good away day, whether we’re potentially playing you in a league or cup game from 2026 onwards. Taking a few minutes to support a fellow club before it becomes homeless in just a few years would be massively appreciated. Please help support us in the survey if you can. Thank you in advance.

Thank you, I appreciate and agree it’s not the most user friendly survey, but something the council thought best addressed the priorities it considers must be met to allow us to continue. Probably the last section with the comment box to just put a few positive words about how much more accessible the new ground would be for away fans and how the club must survive for football fans and future generations would be hugely helpful. Thanks

Done.

Took quite a bit of reading, but I persevered and completed it. Good look with the application OUFC. 😉

Hi All,

Just a final push to see if any others could help support us with the local authority survey, as we try and get as much support as possible from football fans across the country to back our new stadium bid.

If any more of you are able to complete the survey (link on original posting), it would be hugely appreciated. It closes in about a week and a half’s time.

Good luck for the season ahead, hope you get promotion straight back to the Premier League where you belong.

Many Thanks
