How long you can keep a doughnut before it goes stale?

Any tips for keeping doughnuts, or donuts for our American friends, fresh? I have a friend, incredible as it may seem, who used to work for a well known doughnut (donut) factory and part of his job was to collect doughnuts (donuts) from the shops towards the end of the evening if they hadn't sold. These doughnuts (donuts) came in packs of 12 and were still fresh but the shop couldn't keep them as they could only sell doughnuts (donuts) that were freshly baked that day. One day he dropped off 3 packs of 12 and I had to gorge myself, I did let my girls have one each but they weren't overly keen, and gave someone else a pack of 12 but I was having to eat them extremely quickly as I didn't want them to go stale.

So if the situation happens again does anyone have any tips as to how to keep them fresh for as long as possible?

Freeze them, then take one out daily.

I will have to try freezing them next time. The trouble then though is having to wait for one to defrost when you want one straightaway! i definitely think I could be one of those people who drop dead on the football pitch and everyone says, "He looked so healthy!"

I've never seen a doughnut that's even remotely stale and wondered what it looked like.

Bert would probably play them 1 at a time when they're ready, he would certainly get rid of the stale ones, scrutenise the rest and identify which ones are edible.

They look the same it is just when you bite into them that you realise they are stale (they are basically hard instead of soft) and don't taste nice.

Don't know. Never kept one long enough to approach stale.

I once had a slice of bread that went stale. It had fluffy green-bluey dots on it. I had to throw it away. I'd not had it very long either. I suppose I could have kept it and eaten it if I got Covid or something like that.

Can't help with your Donut related question, Madron, but i will say this, i do think that Marcelo Bielsa's brand of attacking football was akin to watching the great Brazilian sides of the 1970s, and he'll always be a LUFC legend, despite how it all ended.
