I feared the worst when she had the trainer on but Fernandez moaning seemed to spur her on to a deserved victory. Hope she pops round mine when she visits Rumania next time

An incredible achievement and scarcely believeable.
I never thought I'd see a British woman winning a Grand Slam in my lifetime. Remember when we used to hype up the likes of Watson and Robson for reaching the 3rd round?
This may be the greatest win ever, up there with Becker at Wimbledon. It just came from nowhere. At least Ivanesevic was a former finalist when he had won.
