Positive: Got to see Berardi one last time with a positive result.
Negative: Ragged, seemingly uninspired play in the first half (at least the fifteen minutes of it I saw)

Positive - we managed to not burn out, god knows how we are going to keep this up all season
Negative - Sky commentators churning out the same old bollocks every game - Leeds can’t defend, they are poor at corners and free kicks it’s our Achilles heel apparently, yet we haven’t lost since 8th March against West Ham and have only shipped 5 goals since then.

Positive - Double over a team I worried about before the season started.
Negative - only one game left in a season which has been beyond enjoyable.

Positive - winning comfortably, away from home, in the Premier League, with a finishing line up that I’d have panicked about in the Championship
Negative - appreciate the nod to service in Berardi in particular, but can’t see any benefit in having Casilla playing tonight.

Positive: Casilla looked like a more-than capable keeper (God forbid)
Negative: I had the stream running during Zoom meetings so couldn't celebrate either goal! (or Rapha's unfortunate fail)

Pro: Another clean sheet, and our goal difference is looking much better than earlier in the season.
Con: A pity the season isn't a few games longer, we are finishing strongly.

+ Bielsa's system vindicated (as if it needed to be by now) once again as non-regular/recently recovered players return to the fold in a Premier League game and the team doesn't miss a single beat. The machine is firing on all cylinders.
- Still a bit of luck required when sides pressure us hard from the off, we look able to weather the storm but need to learn to control it.

Seems to me that Bielsa's system is forcing teams - particularly teams outside the top six or seven - to adopt a high risk/high reward strategy.mothbanquet wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 10:13 am + Bielsa's system vindicated (as if it needed to be by now) once again as non-regular/recently recovered players return to the fold in a Premier League game and the team doesn't miss a single beat. They have to press hard early and try and get ahead and can then sit back and pack the box. If they don't get ahead, however, they risk burning out on the high energy they have to bring to the first half hour or so while also coping with Leeds' superior fitness. The high risk is that, if you fall behind and have to chase the game, Bielsa's boys will eat you alive.
We saw that play out yesterday. Southampton failed to capitalize on the two or three decent chances they had in the first half and we ran them into the ground in the second.

+ Another 3 points and top half finish guaranteed
- Squad is still lacking in quality and it shows as soon as Bielsa starts plonking square pegs in round holes
