Mentioned earlier in the season I would love Leeds to sign N'Golo Kante if we could afford him, the Frenchman's performance last night enhanced my thoughts of him, absolutely magnificent.

Also BT pundits negativity with Christensen when he replaced the injured Silva, have they not seen the top Danish CB play previously? he's as cool as a cucumber.

They plainly arent.

Does anyone else think this highlights a fundamental issue with the Champions League format?

Champions League , the clue is in the title.

Only league Champions should be in it, something Chelsea havent been for a good few years.

For me the Champions League should only contains league winners.

Then the Europa League would be for say the next 3 or 4 teams.

By letting so many teams into the Champions league it dilutes the meaning imo.
Completely agree... the old set up was was by far much better and better balanced
European cup for Domestic league champions
Cup winners cup for domestic trophy winners
Fairs/Eufa Cup for 2nd, 3rd & 4th place league finishes

Champions league just eptimomises the thought process of those who support a Champions Super league...

Also the greed of EUFA - more teams = more paying fans, more TV revenue, more advertising revenue basically more dosh

Chelsea are ready to re-sign Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku this summer.

The Italian club are apparently prepared to listen to offers for the 28-year-old Belgian to ease their financial concerns.

Fwank was a decent high-scoring midfielder

The likes of Fwank & John terry had to be with one of the bigger London clubs, their off field attitudes and arrogance would not be tolerated by many clubs.

Thomas Tuchel will be given up to £200m to spend this summer.

A top striker a priority I suspect.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has signed a contract extension until the summer of 2024.

What with their £200 million war chest that's Chelsea set-up for the next few seasons.

I wish they had retained Fwank now :(

They have got themselves a good manager and as you say add the war chest will take some stopping.

Have you noticed that the better managers are not those that have not been top players. Bielsa & Tuchel are obvious but add the likes of Moyes, Rodgers & even Dyche who get the best out of what they have.

Chelsea have opened talks with Borussia Dortmund over a possible £170m move for Erling Braut Haaland, 20, and England forward Tammy Abraham, 23, could be part of the deal.

Its a lovely romantic idea to build slowly and whatnot but the fact is football has moved on and you need tons of cash to win trohpies.

A second 100mil transfer of the summer ffs.

I don't think he even got into double figures in terms of appearances before then loaned him out to WBA and then Everton, before then making the deal permanent with the Toffees for £28m in July 2014. They'd have saved themselves £70m+ if they'd just held on to him :)
