https://tbrfootball.com/report-details- ... it-failed/

Strange to think that we were ' blown out of the water financially ' by Salzburg when the paid to Molde was £7.2m. Yet we committed to buying Costa for 15m and JKA for £18m....All a matter of perspective I guess.
Shame as we missed out on one of Europe's best young players, he was right on our doorstep too!

Too many times even when were rubbish we looked in the wrong direction :(

That's why I tend to question Victor Orta 64....

Also interesting ; https://tbrfootball.com/leeds-star-patr ... -studying/

As part of the video homework which Bielsa sets his players to view at home, PB is apparently sent regular clips of Haaland ! Ironic in a way....

The DoF that probaly would have bought Haaland would probably have had us with Steve McClaren as coach...and still in the second tier...

Can't see Haaland staying at Dortmund. He'll probably go to Barca or Real

We wouldn't have stayed in the second tier with Haaland, even with only a half decent manager.... It's also down to the quality of the players. Anyway, our existing Dof was also responsible for appointing Heckingbottom and Christiansen.

Can't say that, no indication that would have been the case. Lots can happen with players and there would have been no absolute certainty he'd have performed for us, stayed fit with us, got on with the manager ...many other unknown factors

We can say with certainty that Bielsa/Orta have got us playing very good football in Europe's premier league

Anyway, our existing Dof was also responsible for appointing Heckingbottom and Christiansen. Or you could argue that Radz was also responsible, in which case Radz should also take some of the credit for bringing in Bielsa. Who's to say that Radz wasn't the person who initially had the idea to try Bielsa and then Orta facilitated it ? Orta does get nearly a million a year for his services.

Its a shame.

We probably would have had the money to buy Haaland had we not wasted so much in previous seasons.

Grot, Cibicki, De Bock, Forshaw, Roberts etc.

Not buying just those gives you the cash to buy Haaland.

VO gets credit for Bielsa but at the same time most people dont think our squad was promotion level last season and credit Bielsa with making the most out of the squad.

Imo Orta's player recruitment is average to poor but Bielsa saves him.

Not disputing mistakes were made, especoally in the early days of Rad's tenure where we needed players in so fast mistakes were made., though I think TC was Rads's choice after "impressing" him with those plans of his...Orta has generally been very good in his time here..

I don't think Rad's would have known enough about available managers to come up with the original idea to try for Bielsa but as you say I can't prove that

I can prove we're in the top tier now though

Having just checked, it seems that it was Orta's initial idea. Orta had tried to get him appointed at his previous clubs, and his regard for Bielsa started in 2002 when Bielsa was the Argentine manager and Orta was a journalist.

Disagree about the merits of his player signings though - Costa now looks like another expensive mistake to add to a long list. Good job Victor doesn't have his wages docked by Rad for expensive mistakes ( JKA, Costa, Roberts, Casilla, Forshaw, Douglas, Wiedwald etc ) otherwise he would be living in a bedsit in Headingley right now....

I don't think 15M is expensive for the prem ...we paid more than that for Rio more than 20 years ago. Costa also key in getting us up imo, which has to be worth 15M

I think Roberts is quality so we'll never agree there, not gotten a chance yet at his favoured position, Forshaw was outstanding for us beginning of last season, JKA was wanted by Bielsa till he wasn't..

Casilla is a good keeper and was our MOTM here several times last season, Roberts was 2.5M, not expensive at all imo for that kind of potential. Weidwald was a mistake but again we were rushed putting a team together at that point

We're doing well in the prem, I'm not sure right now we should be blaming anyone for success

We are with little or no impact from Costa, Roberts, Forshaw & Casilla
