Re: Sports Newsflash - India v England
Looking at the scores in the third test
I don't I've ever seen three such contrasting consecutive test matches in a single series. Bizarre.

Hard to take this series seriously now. At least Kohli and co are all smiles and will retain their No. 1 status. Seems that is all that counts. At any cost

The kind of wicket that in the UK would be getting the home team points docked

Re: Sports Newsflash - India v England
Disgraceful wicket! What a waste of Englands time and effort. Travel all that way, leaving their families behind and for what? Certainly not a test match. The powers that be need to sort this out.....

India captain Virat Kohli:
The result went our way but the quality of batting wasn't at all up to standard by both teams. We were 100-3 and hoping to get more than we needed. There was a lack of application from both sides."
England bowler Steve Finn:
"England are going to have to look at their team selection. I'll be amazed if we don't see a different balance for the last Test.

Lets hope it's a better pitch then!1964white wrote: ↑Thu Feb 25, 2021 7:28 pm India captain Virat Kohli:

Same stadium so I wouldn't hold out much hope. Maybe they can organise a couple of 20/20's for days 3/4 and 5

Re: Sports Newsflash - India v England
Oh....didn't know that
You would think that something could be put in place....for the fans. I mean, a five day test reduced to two? I feel for the fans who I believe have been cheated out of a proper cricket match....that's my beef with all this! I even feel cheated even though I'm only watching on TV...

Ridiculous pitch!
When teams don’t even reach 200 in 2 innings in a 5 day test match then what’s the point?

The cricket version of Elland Road.

On that wicket even playing with application your going to get at least one unplayable ball an over and to get your head down and battle it out doesn't really work. You need to push the field back and yo have to be aggressive. We probably batted better than India in the first innings too, they had the bowlers to exploit the surface and we didn't bar Leech and Leech would not get in India's team..

Re: Sports Newsflash - India v England
However, we gave away a host of wickets to balls that were more than playable. Rohit and Crawley both managed half centuries, so to an extent, there were runs to be had. Some of our shot selection was questionable at best, so we can't completely detract from that.faaip wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 10:21 am On that wicket even playing with application your going to get at least one unplayable ball an over and to get your head down and battle it out doesn't really work. Re: Sports Newsflash - India v England
Joe was probably bullied by Anderson and Broad, as they thought that the the pink ball would swing. Joe is a decent occasional bowler, but leaving Bess when the pitch is a bunsen is not going to progress him. It was obvious that the Indians would produce a turning pitch after the flat one they provided for the first test which suited England. I can't see the point of taking Bess to India if you are not going to play him (or sending Ali home, for that matter.)
