Transfer News Crysencio Summerville- EFL Championship Player Of The Year

Post by Cjay »

Young dutch winger on his way according to reliable reports.

18 years old.

2 goals and 3 assists in the Eredivisie last season.

Has represented Holland at multiple Dutch youth levels.

Has been linked with Wolves, Leipzig and Rangers in the past.

Looks a talent.

His mouth closed is a good start, plus an intelligent steady gaze.

Hopefully he'll be as unfazed as he looks.

Our U23’s squad is beginning to bulge with talent and Summerville looks a serious talent.

Some comments I saw from Feyenoord supporters reacting on Twitter were disappointed to see him go but doubted his ability to play at senior level as he is potentially too small and light yet. Bielsa’s pals in the staff canteen need to get to work on him.

A few seasoned heads can be useful but to say younger players can't compete is just plain false. Last season alone some of the best players for their respective teams were U23s, players like Alexander-Arnold, Mount, Pulisic, Tomori, Rashford, Abraham and Rice consistently showed up more experienced players and this is just off the top of my head.

Sorry but talent supersedes experience. Experience only means you've been doing something for longer, not that you're better at it.

If you're good enough you're old enough.
Mason Greenwood is proof of that.
However, as we already have Costa and Poveda I'm not sure if we'll see him in the first team this season.

yeah totally agree if youre good enough doesn't matter what age you play 1st team, the likes you mentioned arnold haaland etc when young 17 18 and they definately are good enough, but i would imagine that the player in question would be for the under 23 and not ast team. thats why i said we need senior 1st team players.

Aren't McKinstry and McCarron wingers as well?

I think Sumerville is better. Plus I saw McKinstry on Monday and he was playing much more central. Summerville definitely looks like he'll be the best winger outside of our first team squad

Fair enough. I have no idea how good either McKinstry or McCarron are as I haven't seen them play but for some reason I thought they were both wingers.
I understand McKinstry in particular looks really promising.

I think Bielsa is trying to convert McKinstry into a ball carrying no.10 in the Saiz mould. Think that is what he would have done with Dan James too and he also tinkered with Jack Clarke in that role last summer but was presumably not impressed.
