Unfortunately the brummies scored the winner in the final two minutes.

Re: Championship 2020/2021
Norwich really have acclimatised well to be a premiership team - 2 defeats in a row now since their promotion was secured.

Derby losing 3:0 , gives Rotherham 3 games to get 4 points and relegate Rooney in his first management job
Re: Championship 2020/2021
Unsure how many wins Rotherham have in their locker, surely three games in hand is an incentive although the immense pressure on them to overhaul Derby may be a step too far for the Millers.

It would be beautiful. Rooney has lost four in a row, only won one in twelve. Lose the last three and Rotherham only need four draws. He looks absolutely clueless:

What a run Bournemouth are on winning their last 7 matches after some poor form which saw them drop out of the top 6 during March.
Won 4 of their last 5 matches away from Dean Court.
Hit 3 goals past Norwich & Swansea.
Scored 21 goals.
Conceded 5 Coals.
Left it too late for an automatic promotion place but must be serious contenders in the play-offs

A smashing victory for Barnsley at Huddersfield which gives them a 6 points cushion ahead of 7th place Reading, looking good for a place-off place now.
Their French coach Valerien Ismael has done a magnificent job since his arrival at Oakwell last summer.

Re: Championship 2020/2021
Think you’re right 64, with another loss yesterday. They have 5 games left, with 4 of those being away (inc. Barnsley, Brentford, Cardiff) so I reckon it’s likely that Derby will survive, just because Rotherham just won’t be able to overhaul them

Not necessarily.Muppet the Cat wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 10:36 am Think you’re right 64, with another loss yesterday. They have 5 games left, with 4 of those being away (inc. Wendies won last night and are on the same points as Rotherham now.
While I don't particularly want them to stay up, I would rather them than Derby.

Yes, fair point Chilli - I hadn’t thought about SW....and yes I’d rather them stay up as well.
Re: Championship 2020/2021
I did say I felt the Millers needed something out of their two home games v Brum & Boro', they ended up with nothing. Looking at Rotherham's remaining fixtures I think they'll struggle to catch Derby even with two games in hand, now it's up to the Owls who are up & down like a yo yo.Muppet the Cat wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 10:36 am Think you’re right 64, with another loss yesterday. Congratulations to Watford for joining Norwich in next seasons Premier league.
Lord knows who will win the playoffs, inconsistent bunch.
Likely to be Brentford, Bournemouth, Swansea and Barnsley.
Interestingly going by xG table the best performing side in the League should be Brentford.
Problem for them is they are slightly underperforming their expected goals scored and expected goals conceded (basically not scoring when they should and conceding when they shouldn't).
Of the playoff sides Swansea are the ones who are vastly overperforming, they should be mid table which suggests talented individuals are the reason for their impressive season rather than the team (people like Andre Ayew)
Barnsley and Bournemouth are roughly where they should be.
Watford are exactly where they should be in 2nd.
Interestingly though and worrying for Norwich the exact same thing that happened the last time they were promoted is happening again.
They should be 3rd, outstanding individuals are saving them. Offensively they are fine but defensively they should have conceded nearly 20 more goals.
Tim Krul saving them, opposition teams missing chances.
The worrying part of that for Norwich is its pretty similar to what happened last time they won promotion as Champions.
They outperformed themselves according to xG, Pukki and Buendia and the like scored far more of their chances than they should have which made up for their awful defence.
This time Krul is making better saves and Championship opponents are missing chances while the attacking players are merely hitting their xG not doing better.
Last time they were promoted the xG regressed, the talented individuals werent as clinical as they were in the Championship and the defence was just as bad so naturally Norwich went down.
If similar happens next season (the expected goals conceded gets met) then Norwich will go down again
xG isnt an exact science but it does highlight potential worrying trends performance wise.
And what it suggests is that Norwich's defence hasnt improved at all, its just that it isnt being taken advantage of like it should

Unfortunately true
However they have Brentford, Luton, Cardiff and Blackburn left
4 teams with absolutely nothing to play for.
Surely they can find a few wins from that ?

Rotherham lose again tonight, that almost certainly means Shrek will not be relegated
