Re: Is this right ?
I'm with weasel and faaip and I don't need to repeat their messages
Re: Is this right ?
These young beach craving folk should still adhere to the rules which clearly are not.weasel wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 8:00 am As long as the vulnerable are better protected this time we should be okay. The stupid decisions to send elderly patients back into nursing homes without being tested is just one of the mistakes that needs to be avoided as this along with care home workers working at more than 1 home at the same time spread the disease amongst the most vulnerable so quickly.
There is so much contradictory information from the scientists, virologists etc that it is hard to really know how serious the virus is. All we hear is the death toll yet it still hasn't really been worked out how many of those people would have died anyway and that Covid19 was simply one of the factors in their death but not the major one. Everywhere the majority of deaths has been amongst the age group that have a high level of mortality anyway. We also have scientists suggesting that the testing to see if people have had the diseases only actually detects it in about 1/5 of people who have actually had it. ALso scientists claiming lots of people are simply immune to it anyway as they have already built up levels of immunity simply from having other colds previously.
So we go back to what I have said all along which is to protect the vulnerable and let everyone else live as normally as possible. My Mum is on the vulnerable list and hasn't seen any of the family in months. That sadly is how it should be but it shouldn't stop those not at risk or at an incredibly low level of risk (akin to the risk of dying whilst driving to work for example) from living as normally as possible. We have seen with the footballers that have tested positive that none of them actually thought they had it as they had no symptons and none have come out since to say they had any problems relating to it and are presumably now back training as normal.
They also need to learn decorum bringing bin-liner bags with them & taking their mess home.
Local residents & many businesses don't want these inconsiderate sun seekers in their town, my brother, his wife & friends who live in Poole are appalled, disgusted & fuming.
We cancelled our Cornish holiday back in March & are still hopeful our Northumbria break will go ahead in September, if lockdown is re-introduced no chance & we'll know which morons to blame !
Time for the idiots to go back to work I suggest

From someone who lives in Bournemouth
"Yesterday was the worst day ever i can ever remember in Bournemouth.. 650K visitors , one main A road in and out of the town gridlocked for 12 hours. 2 roads to the hospital were blocked by illegal parking, A mass brawl by Boscombe pier (caused by Serbians) people using the back of beach huts as toilets. The head of the Council is a real dimwit at the best of times and should have put some measures in place this week to offset this madness"

Dr Sarah Jarvis comments on the news this morning
Very cross & concerned for the future
Young people's attitude on this killer virus
Our government continuing to make too many wrong decisions
Scottish government handled the crisis much better

Re: Is this right ?
It’s only going to get worse come the 4th July as people think it’s completely gone away. Prepare for a second lockdown
Re: Is this right ?
People think it's gone away now Rich, just wait when millions are p*ssed out of their heads again, they don't give a damn!rich_leeds64 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 27, 2020 7:05 am It’s only going to get worse come the 4th July as people think it’s completely gone away. Prepare for a second lockdown
We are lost as a country
Re: Is this right ?
I fully agree with Weasels post. And as for the litter situation unfortunately there seem to be more of these morons in our midst than we would like, they are the type who just don't give a toss about a decent society and hopefully leave soon.
Re: Is this right ?
Posted in this thread are just some of the reasons I left this ****hole of a country which sinking deeper and deeper beyond recovery. I am only here now to see my father through his final few weeks and then I'll be gone never to return.
What a selfish obnoxious arrogant society it's become !

Many UK citizens feel the same & have since emigrated, I have a very good friend who left England 30 years ago, returned to England in similar circumstances to yours BG, she was absolutely astonished how bad it is, couldn't wait for her return to Oz three months later.BGwhite wrote: ↑Sat Jun 27, 2020 9:02 am Posted in this thread are just some of the reasons I left this ****hole of a country which sinking deeper and deeper beyond recovery. Sorry to hear about your father, not a good time for you!
Re: Is this right ?
The reasons for this lie far deeper than individual selfishness imo. We swim in a sea of advertising and marketing which pushes greed as the ubiquitous value. Even trying to log on to this site is a constant battle not to have gambling companies pushed in your face.
Our whole culture is sick, the market has invaded every aspect of life. Scenes like Bournemouth are just a symptom, and it won't change until we displace profit as the prime motivator of human activity.

Re: Is this right ?
People consuming disposable items yes,
leaving rubbish on the beach no.
Should the Council have predicted a mass arrival along with the return of greater freedom of movement / hot weather and managed it better? Of course.
As soon as I saw the crowded beach picture, I thought Freedom of assembly in public spaces. Then came the virus, then strong sunlight sterilising the bathers along with salt water and fresh air. The rubbish is a problem though and rather than an Omaha defense to keep the beach free from invaders, a quick council meeting to have staff being more pro-active would have sorted out the dangers that littering causes.
It's not rocket science to sort problems before they get out of hand, but some aren't able to get out from behind their desks and muck in, are they? Don't blame the people, blame those self servers in charge that fail to serve the people over and over again.

If you don't know where you are going, every road will get you nowhere.
Re: Is this right ?
Leaving rubbish is a sign of being disconnected from, and not caring about, the world around you. Again, there deeply imbued reasons why we have this sort of culture.

Thanks 64, no it's not a good time at all. I'm just hoping that our team can just shed some bright lights onto what has been quite a miserable year so far - for me anyway.1964white wrote: Many UK citizens feel the same & have since emigrated, I have a very good friend who left England 30 years ago, returned to England in similar circumstances to yours BG, she was absolutely astonished how bad it is, couldn't wait for her return to Oz three months later.
