Good shout with Pornography :ok:

Great album, I went to see them on the Pornography tour at Newcastle City Hall. Also saw them at the same venue for the Faith tour. Both shows we're brilliant 😊
Fantastic album bettered only by 17 seconds IMO. Faith another classic though some people reckon its too depressing- I call that atmospheric!
Seen them loads over the years and they never disappoint- on stage for 3 hours plus in most cases - one of the best live bands ever.

I like 17 seconds too.

You could say Pornography is pretty depressing too, but I love it.

Faith is always a bit special for me as first time I saw them was on that tour, and first few seconds was the bass from Holy Hour shaking my body, incredible.

Yeah, very tight band and Roberts voice was better 40 years ago 8-)

Great value shows, can't remember anyone supporting them on those tours though?

If the second side were as good as the first could well have been Magnum’s ‘Chase The Dragon’, but will go full 80’s pop and:

That's gonna get points from me anyway.

In fact, if someone nominates Thriller, I'm really not sure how I will put Simple Minds, Duran Duran, Roxy Music and Michael Jackson in order from 2 to 5.

Apparently 82 was quite the year!

Neither can I though any support band would be just blown into insignificance anyway! :)
Though I do remember Keane and Elbow supporting them at a festival at Old Trafford Cricket ground in 2004.
Think it was the same weekend that Morrissey played on the following day. Great times :)

Cheers Leon.

I was also tempted with Siouxsie and the Banshees - A Kiss in the Dreamhouse

XTC - English Settlement

Please.

Thanks for picking it up Durly! Combat Rock is a victim of its success I think. It's hard to keep your punk cred when Should I Stay or Should I Go is getting played on commercial radio and at wedding receptions. It's no London Calling but listened to in a vacuum it's a great record by any measure.

I'll go with

Yazoo 'Upstairs at Eric's'

All the ones I really would have picked have already gone :bear:
I'm going back to 505, I saw them at Sheffield and they were amazing.

Such a great year.
I could select about half of those already picked.
But my most played acoustic album.

Bruce Springsteen. Nebraska.

Thought Roxy Music would get a nomination. Hard to leave Kate Bush off the list, but here goes...

1 Joe Jackson 'Night & Day'
2 Simple Minds 'New Gold Dream'
3 Duran Duran ‘Rio’
4 Michael Jackson 'Thriller'
5 Donald Fagan 'The Nightfly'
